You know that bit at the end of Oblivio where all the confirmed and implied couples state that they play āSuper Penguinoā together? And Sabrina gets cut off as she mentions that she and Chloe sometimes play? Iāve seen most people agree that the game is DEFINITELY code for something (I choose to believe itās making out rather than straight-up sex).
So that got me thinking- why exactlyĀ is Sabrina so devoted to Chloe? It canāt be just straight-up fear, because Chloe and Marinette outright hate each other but so far Chloe hasnāt been able to actually do anything to her that stuck. So my (and otherās) theory is that Sabrinaās got one hell of a crush. And the āSuper Penguinoā thing suggests that ChloeĀ knows about it, and possibly reciprocates. But since this is Chloe weāre talking about, thereās a chance that Chloe knows about Sabrinaās feelings for her and is using tokens of affection- like kissing her- to keep her around and exploit her loyalty. Itās like a super watered-down version of Harley Quinn and the Joker, but without any physical abuse. That we know of.
Obviously this angle is both too dark and too gay for Astruc to touch it, but thatās why Iām here. Even if Chloe does feel the same way, this would be an unhealthy relationship if I ever saw one. While I donāt particularlyĀ loveĀ Sabrina, I do think she deserves basic respect and a girlfriend that wonāt take advantage of her. So naturally I thought of them breaking up. It doesnāt really matter how or why they break up, but the aftermath does. We know Chloe is probably going to be nasty about the whole thing, and Sabrina would be absolutely devastated. Chloe might even drop the bomb that she never really liked Sabrina, she only indulged her because she was useful.
If Marinette finds out about this, you bet sheās going to try and help. At first Sabrina might try to get her to help get them back together, but Marinette shuts that downĀ real fast. Instead, she does her best to show Sabrina how a real friendship should work. She gives Sabrina positive reinforcement even when Sabrina doesnāt āearnā it, and tries to get her to find some hobbies of her own, something to focus on besides serving other people.Ā
But considering Chloeās tendency to isolate Sabrina, make her feel worthless, and generally be horrible and abusive (āIām her only friendā), Sabrina doesnāt just need a friend. She needs a therapist. And thatās Marinetteās biggest accomplishment: convincing Sabrina to get therapy for all the damage Chloeās done over the years.Ā
With a little help from her new friends and a LOT of help from her therapist, Sabrina starts to become her own person again. And to everyoneās surprise, theyāre starting to like that person. Especially Marinette, who no longer just sees a victim in need of help- she sees a friend. They end up building each other up and supporting each other in a way that only they really understand, because in a way, theyāre pretty similar.
Marinette looks at Sabrina pre-breakup and sees somebody she could have easily become, what with her people-pleasing tendencies. Sabrina looks at Marinette and sees what she aspires to be- someone who is kind and helpful, but knows where to draw the line, at least most of the time. They end up becoming incredibly close friends, to the point that Alya jokes about Sabrina stealing her bestie. Eventually, it becomes something more than a friendship.
Maribrina comes out of left field to most of the class, but they support it for the most part. Even Alya, who was on board the Adrienette train LONG before the breakup, is happy for them. Chloe is the only one who takes any issue with it, but at this point Chloe is practically a non-entity in the class, seeing as sheās one toxic person and everyone else makes sure not to let her anywhere near their friendships.Ā
Adrien might be involved in this too, and this is going to get salty, but I think heād try and encourage Sabrina to go back to Chloe. Adrien wonāt rock the boat, and if someone else does it, heāll try to get everything back to where it was pre-rocking. Sabrina eventually admits what heās been saying to her whenever he gets her alone, and just like that thereās a wall of extremely pissed teenage girls between Adrien and Sabrina at all times, just like thereās a Marinette-shaped blockade between her and Chloe even when the others arenāt around.
Basically? Sabrina comes out with a bunch of new friendsĀ and a healthy relationship with the only person who ever tried to help her out of Chloeās toxic grip in the first place, because if she really is into Chloe, or even if she isnāt:Ā

And something thatās really important for everyoneĀ to be aware of: Just because itās queer doesnāt mean itās healthy. Abuse is not something that only exists between men and women. Even if Chloe and Sabrina arenātĀ ādatingā, itās still an abusive relationship, and itās not okay, especially because the show seems to be hell-bent on continuing it in favor of upholding the status quo--much like Adrien.Ā
(because donāt forget. Heās been friends with Chloe since they were little kids. Heās been there for her relationship with Sabrina from the start. He knows how sheās treating her is wrong, but has he ever done anything about it? Nope. Because that would be inconvenient and require actual effort. At the very least, he could refuse to associate with Chloe, and simply be there to support Sabrina, but he canāt even be assed to to that much. And then weāre supposed to believe he caresĀ about his classmates. Suuuure.)
And yeah, the Super Penguino thing is definitely code for kissing, at the very least.
