What was the biggest turning point in your character's life? Why and how did this affect them?Ā
Oh wow, a question about my characters! No way! Thank you for this ask :D
Okay so, the biggest turning point in Marcusā life is easily meeting the other two, Jordan and Hazel. Theyāre more than friends, theyāre literally the only family heās ever had.
Oh I should probably give some background to Marcus:
Heās an escaped genetic mutant experiment
He has wings and some other bird features
Since his escape from the lab heās been on the run, moving from city to city
He survives mainly through street performances with his seemingly endless bag of tricks and skills, the occasional swindling and pickpocketing (only to people who deserve it) and a cross country delivery service (donāt have to worry about traffic when you can fly)
Snarky, charismatic, self-proclaimed devilishly handsome lovable rogue archetype.
Incredibly thoughtful and caring under the performative facade
I havenāt worked out exactly how they met yet, but Iām currently probably gonna go with Marcus is new in town (and country) after escaping his old life for a fresh start and is looking for Hazel, who is the local mechanical genius, for some repairs. Cue sudden storm and crashing through Hazelās best friend Jordanās roof. Yep.
Cue immediate care, fussing over and bonding from Jordan and his family because, well, THIS DUDE JUST FELL THROUGH THEIR ROOF, IN THE MIDDLE OF A STORM, AND HEāS SEEMINGLY FINE?? Anyway, shower him in care and food for at least a week, heās not going anywhere also apparently heās homeless so heās basically our adopted son now. Also Jordan manages to get out of him that he was looking for Hazel so naturally he takes him to meet her. Cue even more friendship dynamics.
As for how this affected Marcus, he wasnāt even particularly hurt after falling out of the sky (mutant strength and endurance go brrr), but for the first time he was in a position where he couldnāt just fly away and forget about it, and if he was being honest with himself, he didnāt want to either, plus the food was heavenly and they have no problem making enough to feed his 4000-calories-a-day appetite (being a flying mutant takes a lot of energy yāall).
Having actual friends for the first time since his escape was, understandably, kinda addicting. Marcus honestly felt like he was living in a dream, and he learns to let his walls, his facade and his ācool guyā personality down around them. He feels accepted for who he really is, rather than the charming street performer persona he created to survive, and heās eternally grateful to his friends for that. Without even a little bit of exaggeration, Jordan, Hazel and both of their families gave Marcus a new, real purpose to his life beside running away from his cage in the past.
Finally, thanks for this ask @random-oc-questions-fairy ! Sorry for the freakin essay lol. Everyone loves questions about their ocs, so thank you for running this blog! :D
