Where do I start with @djmarciacarr - she was one of the first friends I made when I moved to London. In 1995 she was working for an internet radio station and had a show called U.K. Rumbal - I guested on the show a few times. We had the same booking agent @phuturetraxofficial for a while and found ourselves in shared hotel rooms and flyers. She has always ALWAYS been supportive of Black Music and black sisters and brothers in the industry. She has tirelessly walked the walk and talked the talk. Her enthusiasm and passion for music and supporting, building up our peers, artists and sisters in the industry and in life in general is infinite. Her faith is her shield. Her resilience and resourcefulness is extraordinary. From UK Rumbal to Two Decks and a Mixer on Facebook 1995-2020 (and that’s just since I’ve known her) - she has more than put in her 10,000 hours. This lockdown has shown her not only to be a formidable physical and spiritual warrior but also a treasured friend who has supported me through some very dark moments. She has given me strength when I’ve felt I’ve had none and I hope I’ve returned that. We are very different women, with very different backgrounds and life experiences but we are indeed sisters under the skin. Today I celebrate Marcia Carr - @girlzblikedjs @thejazzcafe @rinse_fm_________________ @misoulradio - true friend.
