With the call of spring just around the corner, a season of life and vitality, we have yet another refreshing and eye opening interview with one of your favorite Richonne fanfiction writers. @lobsterlobster1990 graced us with her outlook on writing and what character from The Walking Dead she believes she’s the most like.
Richonnefics (RF): What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
LobsterLobster (LL): Sometimes, on slow days at work, I’ll jot down an outline for a fanfic idea on a post-it then fold it up and take it home and stick it in a notebook I use to collect ideas.
RF: I’ve totally done this myself. You have to record ideas when they appear, right? Use one word to describe your work or writing style and explain why you chose that word?
LL: Growing. I know I tend to write the same kinds of stories a lot, but sometimes I like to try something different. I’m trying to grow as a writer. I think the fact that Richonne has become more and more popular has really encouraged me to keep writing!
RF: I love that you chose the word “grow” because I think even the most seasoned writers can relate and want to expand their skills and style. What is your favorite fanfiction story that you’ve written so far and why?
LL: My favorite story I’ve written is Reunion, which is about Rick, Michonne, and Carl’s adventures once they are reunited after the fall of the prison. That one is my favorite because it’s my longest complete story and it was my first time reaching 100 reviews. It’s easy to start a fanfic and just make it up as I go along and then eventually I get bored and start a new story. With Reunion I was able to have some adventures and some romance and then tied it up with a happy ending.
RF: That is wonderful! And congrats on the number of reviews. That’s quite a feat. What is your least favorite part of the writing process?
LL: I love writing but I think I write a bit slowly and sometimes it can be so hard to focus. I think my least favorite part is when I’m halfway started a story and get distracted and take a long time to finish something.
RF: What is your most favorite part of the writing process?
LL: I’m a bit of a daydreamer so I like coming up with ideas for new stories, thinking of how the characters might react to some new situation. The great thing about fanfiction is that the characters and setting already exist, so it’s a fun challenge to write storylines that you like but to keep it true to the characters. Of course I also like giving people a bit of a surprise twist or a really sweet moment.
RF: What determines the title for your fanfiction stories?
LL: I take something from the theme of the story or something from the main plot. It can be hard to come up with creative titles!
RF: Now for the fun, semi-related question. What character from The Walking Dead are you most like and why?
LL: I love Michonne the most, as you might have guessed, but I think I’m more like Maggie. I feel like if I was transported into the Walking Dead universe, I would be most likely to become friends with Maggie and Glenn…while secretly wishing I was as cool as Michonne, haha!
RF: Maggie’s a great pick. I think she’s got a lot of heart and compassion, obviously passed down from her father! Again, thank you sooo much @lobsterlobster1990 for your time and permitting us to pick your brain about your writing. It was truly our pleasure and we are so grateful for you and your stories in the Richonne fandom. You can check out more of LobsterLobster’s Richonne fanfiction here! :)
