The sky was littered with beautiful twinkling stars against a midnight black canvas, the full moonâs silver moonlight beaming down and illuminating the otherwise dark forest. Leaves crunched under Timâs, Brianâs, and [First Name]âs feet as they maneuvered their way around. Owls let out their cry every once and a great while, their eerie tone bringing a shiver down [First Name]âs spine. Insects of a variety of species sang their symphony, and their song was almost bringing comfort to the three that were out in the wild.
Each of them held their own cameras, recording as they adventured forward. The trio used night vision so they could see where they were going, the screen with various shades of green invaded their eyes. [First Name] couldnât tell if the two boys were having any trouble going through the makeshift path, but she was trying not to stumble over any broken or low oak tree branches that obstructed the way.
âHow do we really know thereâs really a mansion way in the middle of this forest?â [First Name] asked, cutting the nervous tension between the three. âFor all we know, weâre going to just get lost in the middle of this forest and never find our way out.â
âWe donât,â Tim replied with a shrug. âItâs called a legend for a reason.â
The young woman groaned and turned to her other friend. âBrian, whoâs idea was it again to go and find this random ass manor in the middle of nowhere?â
The light brown hair male chuckled and gave a slight smirk. âThe person whoâs between Tim and I, [Nickname].â
ââŠRight. Iâm kind of regretting this now.â
âDonât start regretting this decision now while weâre already way out here,â the dark haired male stated. âBesides, this could turn out and make a great documentary for our film class.â
âYeah, us getting lost will make a very good documentary,â Brian chimed in.
âWe could always go back if you have a problem, Brianââ
[First Name] abruptly halted her tracks, an expression of fear contorted on her face. Her [Eye Color] eyes seemed to be hypnotized by something. Tim saw his female friend, stopping when he was right beside her. Brian wasnât too far behind Tim, stopping on the other side of the young female.
âWhatâs wrong?â Concern laced through Timâs words as he observed [First Name].
With a shaky voice, she asked, âhow does the legend of Slenderman go?â
âIf I remember correctly, arenât there eight pages you have to collect? Something like that,â Brian responded with a questioning tone.
[First Name] started to walk towards an abnormally large oak tree, camera filming herself picking up a page that was nailed to the tree. The page contained a tree on the left, Slenderman in the middle with the word âFOLLOWSâ written vertically on the right. [First Name] felt her heartbeat in her throat, the feeling of dread slowly blooming within her stomach.
âWell, perhaps he is real after all.â
Tim scoffed softly, taking the page from [First Name] and observing it. âItâs scribbled on, which means itâs just kids trying to scare whoever walks in this forest.â
Brian gave his friend a skeptical look. âI donât think you quite believe that yourself. I mean, kids donât come all the way out here, putting up pictures of Slenderman to scare the wildlife. I mean, who really ventures out in this forest?â
âYou guys, come on⊠You donât really believe in Slenderman, do you?â
Brian and [First Name] glanced at each other, matching the otherâs expression before turning back to their dark haired friend. Tim shook his head and headed the page back to [First Name].
âCome on, a large nine foot creature with no face living in the middle of this forest in a mansion? How believable is that? Weâre in college, weâre not supposed to believe in a kid's scary story.â
[First Name] knew Tim was right, but she couldnât help the fear that soared through her blood vessels. A horrible gut feeling twisted inside of her, and she felt like she could throw up any second now. Her throat felt tight, and she swallowed to keep the bile down.
âI donât know Tim, I know youâre right, but stillâŠâ
Brian placed a comforting hand on [First Name]âs shoulder. âCome on, letâs keep going. Better than standing around and overthinking everything.â
The three slowly made their way back into exploring further into the forest. The sounds of nature filling the tree pairs of ears. Although, the further that they went, Brian and [First Name] shared the bad feeling in their stomachs. As stubborn as Tim was, [First Name] was sure that he had felt some sort of bad feeling. How could he not?
It was Brianâs turn to stop, this time next to a huge rock with red and brown hues. [First Name] made haste as she caught up with Brian, seeing that he had also found a page. This pageâs contents held âALWAYS WATCHINGâ at the top, in the middle a picture of a circle and Xâs where the two eyes would be, and at the bottom saying âNO EYESâ.
âIf kids were placing these pages up, they sure have a sick sense of humor,â Brain commented. âSeriously, kids would be more scared than us to come way out here. Something is definitely up.â
Tim stood tall and confident behind [First Name], looking at the page from over her head. He gave a quick sigh, looking over at his male friend. âHow can something watch with no eyes? You guys are really afraid of nothing.â
âOkay, Mr. Tough Guy, you go on ahead of us then and lead the way if you arenât scared,â [First Name] snapped. She was getting tired of Timâs stubborn attitude.
  âFine.â
Tim went on first, [First Name] not too far behind him. Brian took a second to sweep his camera around the surroundings, checking it out before going after his two friends. He also knew that Tim was being the most logical out of the three, but he couldnât help that one lingering thought in the back of his mind that made him think, what if Slenderman really was real? If he truly was real, how much danger were they in at the moment?
  âMuch.â
Brian let out a small gasp, looking around him. The voice was in his head, although it wasnât his voice in his head. Instead, this voice was both comforting and eerie; a perfect mix of the two. It was velvety, but it held dark intentions behind that single word. The gasp caught the attention of [First Name], and she promptly turned around. Seeing Brianâs confused state; he was looking around frantically looking for the source of the voice.
  âWhatâs wrong, Brian?â
The light haired male looked at [First Name] with wide brown eyes. He gave a sheepish smile, hoping to hide the fact that he heard a different voice in his mind.
âAll good here, [Nickname],â he lied. âI just thought I heard something. Nothing to worry about.â
âWill you two come on?â Timâs voice yelled, his voice echoing off the trees. âYou told me to go ahead, not to go alone.â
[First Name] rolled her beautiful [Eye Color] eyes. âWe better get going. But hey, weâre here together. Weâre safe.â
Brainâs sheepish smile turned into a genuine smile, knowing that his friend was there for him. And he was there for her, and he hoped that she knew that fact.
The two made their way to where they heard Timâs voice, just a few yards ahead of them. Although, they found it peculiar that he had stopped in front of another abnormally large tree. Brian and [First Name] walked over to each side of Tim, noticing that he was holding a page in his hands. This page had âDONâT LOOKâŠOR IT TAKES YOUâ written on it, with an X by the word donât and a small drawing of Slenderman under the S in takes.
Suddenly, the three felt like they werenât by themselves anymore. The dreadful feeling of knowing someone or something was with them surrounding the three, creating a tense atmosphere. [First Name] turned to her right, back against Timâs right side as she scanned her camera in that direction. Brian took the same action, only turning to the left with his back against Timâs left side. Tim was filming the page in his hands. What the three werenât aware of, was that the legend himself was standing behind the three, watching the three closely to see their next move.
