I fell in love with this small (21.4cm tall) white marble figure when I saw it at The Met, NYC. Amazing to think that it is 6000-6500 years old! I love the fullness of the curvaceous figure that is indicative of fertility and marvel at the fact that the Cycladic Stone Age carvers were able to create this completely symmetrical figure. The second photo is a small (6cm) maquette that I made loosely based on the original figure. I was testing out a technique of creating texture by making holes in the clay. As you can probably see it started to collapse! This was a technique that I had been going to try more if college had stayed open but will go back to. #strodefad #strodecollege #strodecollegeartdepartment #artistresearch #themet #femalefigure #whitemarble #marblefigure #cycladic #stoneage #stoneagecarving #artexperiments https://www.instagram.com/p/CAH9dpyF-CK/?igshid=16os5jhv93xa5
