L.P. Durasov's illustrations from A.P. Levandovsky's book "The triumvirs of the Revolution" (1980).
My friend’s been translating J.Massin’s Marat into language that I can read. She’s done with part 2 now, which means I also finished reading part 2!!!
I’ve decided to make a little doodle of Marat for each part, as a recognition of her translating and my reading progress. Here’s the previous one and the first one. I put much less thought into that one loll.
For this one, the pose was inspired by Bex’s lovely drawing of Marat. But I also added the broken chains as a reference to Marat’s writing Chains of Slavery. I have to admit I was also thinking of Mexican revolution leader Miguel Hidalgo. Chains are always an element of his portraits. I guess in my head they are biblically dramatic in a similar way!
