for the ask game! if you could pick any book to have adapted into a film, what would it be and who would you choose to direct/act/write it?
I wish I had a very specific answer for this but the only thing I’ve ever really wanted to see adapted (into a movie I liked) is Beauty and the Beast so I’ll go with Rose Daughter by Robin McKinley as the book of choice. (It doesn’t have to follow that specific version of the story, though.)
My specific vision of it is a Big Disney movie like Cinderella 2015, so, like, pretty much unlimited budget and scope, also directed by Kenneth Branagh, starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Belle and Adam Driver as Beast. I would want it not to be a musical (I know, I’m sorry, but I loved how Cinderella had no songs in it apart from lavendar’s blue) just a sweeping Patrick Doyle score and I’d want it to be set in France.
I don’t just think it would work—I think it would SING!
I’ve talked about it before on here, haha. It’s shockingly real to me for a project that doesn’t exist.
