finished Blood Meridian
#many many thoughts...#that's the first full book i've finished in years btw#i feel changed as a person#it's crazy how the chapters with the most horrible violence were so dreadful and awful and against the most vulnerable#but the first time i have ever felt SCARED while reading a book#was chapters 20-22#it is so hard for me to feel legitimately afraid of a character's presence and yet...#when the brutality was turned towards those who deserved it the most#especially when the brutality before should have foreshadowed#let alone the ABSURDITY of the terror represented#these characters are embodiments of the savagery they claim to seek to root out#and present that savagery in ways so blatant it defies imagination#it left me absolutely dumbfounded mid-day with the sun up#what an insane read that was#also the Simpson's quote ''rum! so no one will believe your story!'' comes to mind but that's an aside#what tyhe fuck all in all fellas#Blood Meridian
