What Manolis says is ridiculous and reads like neo-Ottomanist propaganda, but I absolutely love Ibrahim’s reaction to it.
I will expand on it on Overanalyzing, but to me it gives the feeling that even his birth family can’t understand Ibrahim, especially since his mother died. It is like he can’t find his home even in Parga.
The tragic thing is, of course, Ibrahim could maybe find that understanding with other converts and slaves, but he didn’t attempt it. Maybe he attempted it with Nigar, but even that was half-hearted.
