Manila Fame 2014 | Design Week Philippines
Manila Fame is an annual exhibition of Filipino pride craftsmanship, they feature a vast range of "Design" from architecture, interior design, furniture, fixtures, clothing, crafts, jewelries, and the like. It aims to uplift the competence of our fellowmen to the local, and international market.
As an architecture student, I'm fond of learning new things and seeing unique designs like these. I primarily came here to see the "Fashion Philippines" exhibition by our infamous fashion designers, and hoping to bump into them for an interview (sadly I didn't huhu).
The fee is 100php for students and if you have your school i.d. with you, you can enjoy the whole exhibition for just 50php.
Upon entering the exhibition I already set my eyes on this. "WOW!"
Now this is another "WOW".
There's a love triangle in here. :)
Independent in black and white.
Nice cropped top and high waist shorts girl! (Oh BTW this is one of NeoTextiles Philippines Exhibition, and I love it.) Seems like what a modern Filipina wear, with a twist.
Cool huh? Would you like to wear this on your debut or your wedding? This gown is made out of dried leaves. This is made by Madella Flowers and Crafts, contact Chel Fernandez-09176694411.
See that bouquet on the lower right of the gown, it's also made from dried leaves. They have roses too, for 240php per dozen. It's good! They deliver, cater weddings, and debuts.
Cute modern kamisetas spotted, designed by Anne Marie Saguil. I love the spiked clutch bags right there.
I wanna sing Lady Gaga's Bad Romance when I saw these designs. Nice mashed up of cute and edgy by Tipay Caintic.
These are the Manila Wear's what we call "Main Event". These are collections made by our counties most sought after fashion designers.
"Fashion Philippines is form, function, and design sewn together by Filipino craftsmen into tapestries of bold and colorful product collections."(Manila Wear booklet 2014)
Poetry- Cesar Gaupo
Seems like it portrays a story through the cloud details, and the blue-green wrap around maxi skirt.
Ecclesiastic Centric- Avel Bacudio
His collection looks like reinvented art nouveau architecture. (haha, thanks to our history of architecture.)
Texture- Randy Ortiz
Sophistication at its finest in black and nude. Plus it flatters an hour glass figure.
Comfort- JC Buendia
I agree, this is comfortable. Feel free to walk like a modern independent Filipina wearing this baro + saya.
Linear- Ivarluski Aseron
Those fine lines define and flatters a figure. Ready for a business presentation, just add blazer and your'e good to go.
Art- Rhett Eala
Now this is "Art", I believe those details are acrylics(I'm not that sure tho). This is ME! I wanna wear that dress. So pretty!
Sports Luxe- Dennis Lustico
I want this too! It's so versatile, seems like I can wear it with heels or sneakers, day or night.
Ethereal | Ethno- Lulu Tan-Gan
Delicate and elegant at the same time. It still have some Filipino ethnicity touch, seems like it can be used as a beach cover-up, casual top, and a ber-month necessity.
Fresh- Rajo Laurel
Really fresh looking indeed, the breeze might fall in love with this one. I love its simplicity and this is classic, it will never get out of the trend's limelight.
SC Vizcarra export quality bags spotted! So fine and lovely.
Nice aztec wedge from the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
Colorful, trendy, and unique statement necklaces spotted!
Looks like someone bought the missing collection from the rainbow.
Tadaaa! I can't stop myself, the necklace is calling me! Got it for $5.40 :)
Designs are manufactured and exported by ABEEBA. Visit them online at abeeba.com.ph
I heard they are not really planning to sell the collections, but the guests and visitors badly want their accessories (that includes me), so they finally decided to sell it last Sunday. I'm glad I was there on a Sunday. Yey!
Hey girls, aren't your necklaces heavy? (I badly want a selfie with you guys, but I'm kinda shy haha).
So that sums up my FASHION PHILIPPINES experience. I didn't actually got the chance to take a photo of everything, some exhibitors doesn't allow any photographs and videos to be taken. You know, "INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY" stuff. The designs are uniquely theirs, and they don't want to see somebody else copying their ideas. Well, I respect them, it's a little bit risky too because plagiarism is out there somewhere.
I hope you got the chance to visit too. Don't worry there are still a lot of "NEXT TIME", next year? Maybe next next year? They are getting better every year.
See you next year! FUN FUN FUN! :)
