Protest Art: Seen in Los Angeles, 2017
It was a little over a year before the mass school shooting occurred in my hometown where 17 people were killed that I was driving in Los Angeles and saw this protest art in West Hollywood.
Quandary:
I.
“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
- Second Amendment, Bill of Rights December 15, 1791
II.
“The places change, the numbers change, but the choice of weapon remains the same. In the United States, people who want to kill a lot of other people most often do it with guns...Shooters often carried more than one weapon; one was found with 24. At least 188 of mass shooters’ weapons were obtained legally and 62 were obtained illegally. It’s unclear how 105 weapons were acquired...The people who were killed came from nearly every imaginable race, religion and socioeconomic background. Their ages range from the unborn to the elderly; 210 were children and teenagers. In addition, thousands of survivors were left with devastating injuries, shattered families and psychological scars.” - The Washington Post April 16, 2021
What must be done to preserve life without imposing on American liberty? In other nations, people have the same guns we have in America without the mass shootings.
