incredibly niche nitpick of an incredibly niche fandom nitpick, but i've seen it floating around that one of the biggest inaccuracies of chernobyl hbo is in episode 2 "please remain calm" when a helicopter flies over the reactor fire and then disintegrates bc of radiation and crashes, when irl the helicopter crashes bc it hits cables from a crane
but actually in the show, the helicopter does hit the cables! it comes out of the smoke and runs into the cables due to low visibility! that's a thing the show literally depicts!
the main concern w proximity to the open reactor is, y'know. radiation damage to human bodies not machines, altho that does come up later
