She shows up late apologizing to no one In particular with a story about a cat she met that may or may not be real You never ask which it feels rude to interrupt magic

She hums while reading signs out loud mispronounces words confidently then decide she prefers them that way Language bends around her like it’s happy to be wrong

Her pockets are small museums recepits from nowhere a rock that “felt important” notes written to herself that end in doodles instead of conclusions

She believes the moon listens that socks have personalities that some days are meant only for soft music and quiet rebellion like breakfast or dinner or dancing along in the kitchen

She tells stories sideways starting in the middle forgetting the ending than calling back because something reminded her of something else You don’t mind You could stay here awhile

Sometines she gets sad for no clear reason and stares out the window like they owe her answers she never dranatized it just lets the feeling sit beside her until it’s ready to leave

She loves fiercly but oddly through shared headphones inside jokes no one else gets and small acts that that feel accidental until you realize they were chosen

And when she smiles It’s never polished it’s crooked and hoest and a little surprised like she didn’t expect joy to find her there
