This weekend was all about tumblr people in real life. It was fun.
The main reason for going down and spending 9hrs+ on a coach was to meet Manda and Alicia, but it also meant I got to catch up with Andy and probe him (in a non sexual way) over a few things and just have a general catch up.
I landed in London at 5pm and it felt as though I had got off in the Arctic. It was bitterly cold, so I rushed to the comfort of my Brother's flat to drop my bag and then wrapped myself up like an Eskimo and headed to meet Andy for some dinner which was super tasty.
After my fill of pancakes and dessert we decided to go for a drink and literally scooted across the road to the closest pub we could find. It ended up being a little gem and possibly the oddest pub I have ever been in. There were two entrances either side of the bar which was in the middle of the room and then it had lots of little booth type rooms off of it. So hard to describe, but we decided that it would be a great place to play hide and seek!
We had two main topics of conversation and they kind of balanced each other out so we could rant away to our hearts delight without boring each other to death. We left at about 10.45pm and I was home in 30 minutes, but Andy didn't get in till 2.40am!!
Once I got in I had to deal with the 'Soooooooooo.....is this guy just a friend or a special friend?'. I think we all know what my Brother's wife was getting at - not so subtle, but yes we are just mates. Believe it or not it can happen! So my brother can now report back to my nosey Mum that she doesn't need to buy a hat yet! Gotta love the family!
My Brother has a teeny 1 bedroom flat so I ended up sleeping in the study on top of a blanket and a sleeping bag, with one sleeping bag on top of me. So I was cold and uncomfortable and I woke up every hour from weird dreams. In the end I raided the hall for one of my brothers hoodies and rolled myself up in the sleeping bag so that only the top part of my head was exposed to the elements. I then had to unroll myself in the morning :)
Sunday was dedicated to my home girls/sistas from anotha mista/insert other gangsta phrases, Manda and Alicia. They were travelling in from Reading so I met them at Paddington - They were late, but I won't judge all Americans on the actions of a few ;) but as soon as they arrived and epic hugs were had we headed to grab some grub nearby. Being sooo original I ended up taking them to the same pancake place (Kensington branch) as the night before. I had the same pancake and the girls had savoury, unfortunately theirs weren't as snazzy which is a bummer - so 'Top Tip' always order sweet people!
Alicia then said that she wanted to see the Houses of Parliament so we hot footed it to Westminster where the girls asked me lots of questions about Parliament and I pretended to know the answer or used Google. It was educational experience for all!
We then headed down Whitehall past the Cenotaph, Downing Street to spit at David Cameron, Horse Guards Parade and on to Trafalgar Square.
We also spent some time in an epic gift shop looking at the ugly Kate & William memorabilia, trying on hats and I was proposed too by Alicia with a replica Kate Middleton engagement ring. It was special.
The we headed to Camden to find Alicia a pretty dress and we did hurrah! Anyone who has been to Camden knows that the market guys can be pretty pushy and this guy made Alicia try her dress on over her top and then told her to never wear it with a top. Wow he should be the editor of Vogue! After a wander we settled down at a bar to have some drinks and chat shit. I feel like I was a bit of a crap tour guide to be honest, but the things I had in mind had already been ticked off the tourist list, so I hope they didn't find the day too boring.
It was so nice to just sit and talk for a couple of hours about random things, the differences between British and American words, driving stick (oh yeah) and generally chatting shit. They were able to put me right on a few things to which my general responses were 'What?' 'OMG' and 'No Way!'. I love that we could go from chatting online to chatting in real life with such ease and I think we could have sat there for hours putting the world to rights. Obviously the rum helped, but good company beats alcohol hands down! I had to leave the gang at 6.30pm and head for the coach and I was sad to leave them not knowing when I will see them again. Chicago? Maybe? I'm looking into it. I then, slightly tipsy, shot across London for another 4.5hr trip home. Sad to leave the girls, but really happy that I could spend the day with them.
So let me embrace my inner American for a moment and get cheesy....
She is da bomb! That girl has been such a lovely friend to me over the last 6 months. I can trust her with my thoughts and feelings and I know that she understands where I am coming from. I also appreciate that she has been able to stay friends with me through recent months as I bet it was a little awkward at times. On top of having such a great personality she is sooooo pretty. Like so beautiful. Any guy who is a douche to her will now have me to deal with! So watch out scumbags!
She tells it how it is. Not in a nasty bitchy kind of way, but in a 'this is my take on it and this is what I would do' kinda way. Every girl needs an Alicia to have their back. Also that girl has lost some serious pounds (I hope you don't mind me saying that?!). I have been following her for a while now and she is getting more banging by the day! I am so pleased she is happy with Trevor as she is just glowing and I am super happy for her :)
I feel so lucky to count these two girls as my friends. Here is to the next time we get to chat shit!
