The beach was not exactly Kip’s kind of scene; It was crowded and dirty, and unlike many others, he disliked the sharp smell of saltwater. However, it was far more enjoyable than the city. He found himself walking along the edges of the water, perhaps a bit closer than he should have. As he meandered mindlessly, a small wave splashed at his legs, soaking his pants up to his calves.

“Cold cold cold!” he shouted instinctively, dashing from the edges of the shore and latching one hand onto the person closest to him. It took only a moment for him to realized that he was now clinging to a complete stranger, and he immediately withdrew his hand, his expression now abashed.
