I need some help on how to manage an intern - several interns, actually. I’ve managed staff and volunteers before in previous jobs, but I’m finding it’s very different from managing the interns (though I guess I should have expected that a little more).
It’s important to me that they have a great experience and get to learn things, but about a month in I’m running into little things that do end up impacting my work a lot - as in, I’m finding most of them aren’t able to prioritize tasks (understandable because of their age) or despite their enthusiasm lack the ability to take initiative re: basic things. I don’t expect any of them to be a copywriter, but when they deliver an assignment / notice that’ll be send to a group of people, and it’s poorly written, I feel like I need to offer feedback on how to improve that because it’s part of their learning experience - but also, I don’t want my boss to be displeased with text they wrote, because that would reflect not so great on me.
In short… idk, is there a decent source (books, YouTube, anything) to help a bit with this? And I don’t mean general leadership — but really specifically on how to work with interns.
