It was a strange sort of possessiveness, wanting to be the only one to draw that soft smile from her. Wanting to be the only one to hear her loud laughter and wanting to be the only one to see her eyes shining in the moonlight looking up at him with raw adoration.
He knew he was greedy. It was etched in his very being, wanting everything he could get his hands on. It wasn't even something he thought about anymore, he lied, cheated and stole to get what he desired. But no matter what he always wanted more. She wasn't something to simply collect and keep though. She was so much more than a simple possession. He had wanted plenty of things, money, cars, silver and gold. Nothing could compare to the all consuming urge to have her.
Truth was, he coveted her. She was more valuable than any treasure he could get his hands on. Every smile she gave him was worth more than all the diamonds in the world. He wanted to keep her to himself, find out everything about her, drawing back layer after layer until he knew every inch of her. He wanted to learn her fears so he could protect her from them all, an urge so foreign he wasn't quite sure how to deal with it. The thought of harm coming to her made his chest hurt in a way he didn't know how to describe. Sharp agony stabbed through his heart at the thought and he knew that he would do anything for her.
The pact mark on her skin branded her as his. The second that his mark had been drawn onto her skin he felt his sin rise up in a way it had never done before. Greed takes and takes but the more time he found himself spending with her, the less he chased material possessions. Strange as it was, he found himself greedy for non tangible things. He yearned for her praise, her smiles and the warmth of her touch. It was unthinkable, that a simple human could bring out these desires in him. No matter how hard he tried though, he couldn't stop himself from drawing closer and closer to her, desperate for every speck of attention she bestowed upon him.
With every wide smile and happy laugh he pulled out of her he found himself falling harder. Following her around like a lost puppy, cherishing every word she spoke. She consumed his every waking moment, she was the first thing he thought of when he woke up and his last thought before falling asleep. No material pleasure could ever measure up to how he felt when she reached for him. She was the only thing that ever mattered and the only thing that ever would.
He had accepted his feelings for her long ago. He was in love with her, wholly and irrevocably. Maybe if he continued sticking by her, he'd finally figure out how to tell her.
