I snagged free passes to first night at the Brooklyn Museum which means the museum is open super late and there's all kinds of fun events going on. I went with some friends. It was weird because there was a short line and they opened later than normal. There was an amazing spread of food and drink set up when we walked in and we were like, oh, this is cool this must be sponsored, so we had some. And then we were told there was a screening happening upstairs. My friends were like, let's do that we never see screenings of anything.
We go up to the auditorium, and at this point I'm starting to realize something is wrong because there's a step and repeat and people are taking photos and everyone who walked into the museum with us is also going to the screening. No one is wandering around looking at the art and there don't seem to be any other events.
I check my phone and realize I had screwed up and taken us there on the wrong night. We stumbled into the premiere of Reclaim the Flag, a short documentary about LGBTQ+ people doing just that, followed by a panel discussion.
So because of my memory issues, we all stumbled ass backwards into an exclusive and amazing night. Also this happened:
