Instead of trying to take responsibility for what they did, they choose to act like nothing happened. And when they DO think about it, they sugarcoat it. Riz convinces himself that it was an act of friendship, Melon’s mom think of it as something romantic.
Melon’s mom shows the result of ignoring your sins: You get a shallow life where you do all you can to “outshout” the past, like(in Mama Melon’s case) creating a nice little fantasy castle and never leave it. But it is not really a solution, as shown since Melon’s mom constantly considered eating her own child.
