Malvoeaux - Targets (2010)
Genre: house, EDM
Length: 16:30
I chose to listen to Targets for two reasons: first, because I'm from Long Island, and second, because this is the first in a line of hundreds of house records released by L.I.E.S. (Long Island Electrical Systems).
Malvoeaux's opener is a crunchy, throw-down, standard house record. When I hear it, I receive images of cities, passing lights, a car zooming and weaving smoothly through highways. Targets is more serious than Shivers, and both songs are far more serious and enjoyable, in my opinion, than the last song, Weeknight Warriors.
There is a pretty consistent use of guitars to punctuate transitions in the beat. I like it. Overall, except for Weeknight Warriors, I found this record enjoyable and a perfect opener as I delve into the work released by L.I.E.S.
