Malvertising virus on Roleplayer.me 11/20/24
I’ve noticed a significant security risk with the site running ads, particularly pop-up videos. Even with blockers enabled, these videos can still be accidentally tapped, posing a threat to your device’s security.
A few months back, the site tested similar coding and blamed the end-users for any issues. Let me be clear: the fault lies with the site itself. Please exercise caution when dealing with these pop-up videos, often appearing in the corners of your screen.It looks like this feature was rolled out over the weekend.
Despite having blockers and other security measures in place, one small mistake—like tapping a pop-up—could lead to a hack or virus.
If possible, update your blockers to target these pop-ups specifically. Some blockers offer this functionality, but even the best ones struggle to prevent video pop-ups entirely.
As an example, I accidentally tapped one of these pop-ups on my device. Shortly after, I encountered a delay in loading the next screen and captured the following screenshot.
Minutes apart, I am working... but it's clear enough to get the point across.
