Malleus started liking Riddle when Riddle personally invited him to an unbirthday party. Malleus was always curious about the boy, because of his attitude and strength but his kindness is what threw Malleus off. Riddle was attentive throughout the party, and had full conversations with Malleus without sneaking away to leave. His heart thumped everytime Riddle made that sharp eye contact.

Riddle started liking Malleus when he saw Malleus gently handle a bird. A bird landed on Malleus’ shoulder and, instead of shooing it away, he smiled and stayed as still as possible. The gentle approach was not expected from him and it shook him. His eyes could only stare as his mind raced.

Riddle uses Malleus as a big body pillow basically. Malleus does not get his own side of a bed, it is all Riddle’s. Malleus is there as a pillow who is not allowed to get up.

Malleus loves Riddle’s hair getting messy. Wether its bed-head, or just from rough-housing and fighting, Malleus adores how his red locks look in a natural state.

Similarly, Riddle loves Malleus’ long hair. He had threatened him that if he cuts it, his head is next. Malleus has no plans to cut it anyway, so he just smiled and nodded.

While they were in the "secret crush” phase, Riddle made sure Malleus was aware of housewarden meetings just so he could sit beside him. Leona, Idia, and Vil were the ones who noticed. They questioned each other about it but never asked the two directly.

Riddle traces shapes on Malleus’ horns. He knows its basically just bone but he likes the way the textures feels on the tip of his finger. Sometimes, he writes words and waits to see if Malleus can feel it. He can’t.

Malleus likes physical touch. He grew up with an affectionate father, Lilia, so he’s rather used to expressing care by touch. Riddle didn’t grow up with touch, and is off-put by it but also craves it. Malleus didn’t touch him much when they started dating, but he’d do small things like hold Riddle’s finger, hand on his shoulder, fix a strand of hair that was out of place, etc. Riddle would relax every time he did. His body recognized Malleus’ touch as safety.

One day, he can back from a hard day and just ran into Malleus. No words, just hugged him and hid in his chest. Malleus was shocked and questioned him, which was met with just a “be quiet’.

They stood like that for an hour.

Malleus often “purrs”, not purring like a cat. Its a deeper sound that is usually triggered by comfort. When he first did it around Riddle, it was cause they were cuddling and it really caught Riddle off-guard. He was surprised, and it made him more interested in dragons like Malleus.

Riddle likes studying Malleus’ scales. He has notes about them, about the texture, the color, etc. He finds really anything about Malleus’ fae-orgin interesting.

The confession was proper, romantic. They met in a forest, Malleus said he had something to show Riddle. It was a singular gorgeous rose that he found growing. Nothing else in that forest was as beautiful or colorful. Riddle investigated it, pleased with Malleus’ finding.

Malleus’ spoke like a poet about the rose, praising it while staring at Riddle.

‘It’s beauty is something I haven’t seen in many. Like you.” Is what he said.

There, he confessed that he’d been growing feelings for Riddle for a while now. He gifted Riddle with a large bouquet of roses, a shining ring in the middle, as he asked for Riddles hand in marriage.

Riddle was flustered and taken aback. Malleus assumed marriage was how you dated someone, and he claimed his feelings were strong enough. Through stutters and flush, Riddle tried to explain that they couldn’t jump into a wedding, that they had to actual date first. Yeah, Malleus didn’t know that.

Malleus apologized, and instead asked if he could have Riddles “hand in dating” as he phrased it. With a bright red face and laugh, Riddle accepted and admitted his own feelings.

They go on fancy dates often, where they both make an effort to dress up like its a special occasion. They’re never undressed.

It actually took awhile for Malleus to be allowed to see Riddle in casual clothes. Riddle was insistent on dressing properly when Malleus was around. Finally, he wore something normal. Ordinary sleeping-shorts, and a baggy shirt that was easily recognized as Malleus’. Malleus thought he was going to have a heart attack right then and there. He couldn’t help but cup Riddle’s face, and poetically praise his cuteness before attacking him with kisses.

Riddle already knew Lilia, so meeting him again wasn’t that bad. He was just really nervous about if Lilia would approve of him or not.. He did. Lilia already knew Riddle, so he was insanely proud that his boy had started dating someone.

Malleus doesn’t ever meet Riddle’s mom. He can not bring himself to. He knows he will not be able to resist lecturing her.

Sometimes, Riddle struggles to sleep because a relapse on schedule or because of nightmares. Malleus comforts him the best he can, but his grip and way his eyes look just prove how mad he is—not with Riddle, never, but with Riddle’s mother.

Before they started dating, Riddle’s name in Malleus’ phone was “Rosehearts.”

But after it changed to “My queen. ❤️‍🩹” (lilia taught him how to add emojis)

But after they started dating, it changed to “My prince. 💚”

They absolutely talk about their future a lot. They plan to get married right when Riddle graduates. They haven’t decided where they’d move, although.. They are leaning towards Briar Valley as long as they keep in contact with their friends.

Riddle pokes Malleus’ fangs. He studies them, tests their sharpness, examines their shape, etc.

Riddle has a whole talk with the other housewardens about no longer forgetting Malleus or not inviting him and assuming someone already did. He had been upset about it but that feeling grew when Malleus confided in him about feeling alone and exiled from the other housewarden.

Riddle’s pet names for Malleus: My love, dear, lovely, my dragon, my prince, my king, my beloved, darling.

Malleus’ pet names for Riddle: My lover, my queen, my treasure, beautiful, dearest, beloved, strawberry, cute one, angel, my heaven, my rose.

Malleus sends good night paragraphs every night, and spends twenty minutes making them.

Their first kiss was awkward but sweet. They were on a date, late at night. They were taking a walk in silence when they came across a river. There were frogs jumping around and one landed on Malleus’ nose. He was stunned for a moment, while Riddle smiled and reached up to take it off. Riddle struggled to reach so Malleus bent his knees to help, accidentally going too far and pressing their lips together while the frog jumped off. They both froze and pulled away, stunning. Malleus apologized repeatedly and said it was an accident. Riddle, though his face was bright red, got on his toes and kissed Malleus again.

Malleus tried to convince Riddle to keep the long hair but he failed to. (Riddle starts growing his hair out as he gets older.)

If Malleus thinks Riddle has been working too much or been on his feet too much, he will bridal carry him around. He does not let Riddle scold him out of it.
