MalMulder stuff cause I can:
• Ian is Mulder's scary dog privilege. He sits there lounging in full leather while his soft-spoken, sweater-clad boyfriend interacts with people and waits to have an excuse to verbally eviscerate someone for the slightest offense
• Mulder infodumps to Ian so. much. He just talks for hours, going from one topic to the next with very little warning. Ian chimes in with a witty remark every once in a while
• Ian pulls up to some case Mulder's working on with a file he needs. Scully is immediately suspicious and confused. It takes Mulder letting a "baby" slip a few cases later for her to put the pieces together. She doesn't say anything and offers to lie about it to the FBI. Meanwhile Ian drives her up the wall being...well, himself.
• Mulder tries, several times, to get the FBI to lay charges on John Hammond. When that doesn't work, he chooses to go straight to the man and shout at him for half an hour because how dare you take so much risk how dare you get him hurt and drag his name through the mud
• Ian slowly begins to appreciate the scientific again by watching the wonder Mulder looks at it with
• Mulder adapts to exist without answers for everything, guided by Ian's love for chaos

Can you imagine the MalMulder interaction when Ian finds out what they did to Mulder at the end of season two. Like I've already talked a little bit about Mulder finding out about Ian's injuries from the park, but...can you imagine?? Oml.
I’m thinking of getting into the X Files now just because of your MalMulder posts and how much I love crossover ships with Ian, do you have any recommendations on what episodes/places to watch are best?

Me personally, I've really enjoyed starting with episode one and going on through - we get some pretty good characterization and storyline for Mulder just in the first few episodes.
Season one episode 13, while centered on Scully instead of Mulder, was genuinely one of the best episodes of television I've ever seen. All of season one in general is great sci-fi, amazing suspense, and wonderful tension between and within the characters.
Season two is great so far as well, though I wouldn't recommend watching it without the context of season one; I don't think it would quite pack the same punch.
All in all, if you want the version of Mulder I've been using for MalMulder, definitely watch season one! It's really fantastic even if you choose not to watch past that point (in my opinion).
