#mallow rambles

Already fairly big when you brought them in as a “stray”. They’ve just gotten bigger.  From just spoiling them with treats, now subject to the belly of the beast as it growls for more.  The way they lick slobber from their chops and unhinge their fang lined jaws teases whats in store for you if you don’t continue to feed them

You hadn’t even realized your friend had visited  But, the beast belched up their phone recently. There were a few unopened texts from you.

On one hand, your home is safer than ever, anyone trespassing or trying to rob you would be swiftly dealt with  On the other hand, the ever growing beast is about to eat you out of house and home.

It does NOT look like a terrible show, it looks honestly well made, the special effects look pretty good and I'm sure the actors are doing everything to make the script work well. BUT -

The whitewashing is inexcusable. There are so many amazing Latina actresses out there, amazing Asian actresses too, they COULD have at least TRIED, but nope. Plus from what I'm hearing these are the same people who worked the live action ATLA, which does not make it better even a little bit, the lame excuse for Terra is only there so they didn't face backlash and got praise instead for being body positive. Like??? Yeah??? Good on you guys, but that is one step forward and two steps back.

Plus I'm also hearing how Musa's actress is not even 1/3rd Singaporean as stated by people working on the show, make that FOUR steps back then. Even if she IS the fact they still picked a white passing actress to play an obviously canon Asian does not make it better, we all know what happened with Ghost in The Shell. Plus wtf is that lame ass excuse?? People are always 1/3rd or 1/4th or w/e, just anything but that doesn't mean it is any bit okay or makes her more Asian. I could be white with 1/3rd black in me, but that does not make me black. It makes me mixed, white passing. Now imagine me getting cast for a canonly black character.

God I hate the trope of "most powerful person in the (blank) world" and the "special one" trope. It is rarely done well and half the time it makes the main character run on an ego booost. Part of what made Bloom ACTUALLY special is the fact that, while yes, she is the odd one out, she is not handed over anything, she hasn't been gifted with much and still appreciates every day that she has, every little thing and I've personally never seen a moment in Bloom's life where it was stated otherwise.
