At her smile, the ailing captain smiled as well. For how could he not when the mere sight of hers was something that was as rare as the desert rose. Especially this type of smile that played on her lips, soft and almost girl like, quite unlike her usual expressionless one. It really was true, what his father had taught him, no woman could ever resist flowers and they were surely more than enough to bring about a girlish smile out of them. Heavens rest his soul, he owed his father much of his charming mannerisms. It wasn’t his intention to seduce the lady, hardly, but it was most nice an achievement to have managed that smile out of her usually stern self. Thank goodness for his favoured flower seller.
He chuckled at her words, bringing his hands loosely behind him. “You make it sound as though it’s an offence, Unohana-san. There’s nothing wrong with being a ‘hopeless’ romantic. If anything it serves to keep the heart young.” But then he blinked at her revelation, finding it most surprising. The captain herself had actually hand made some chocolate for him? He had expected her to buy some given her busy schedule, this was most unexpected. He gratefully accepted the little box instantly bringing forward his hands and taking it with both of them most respectfully.
“Thank you. I’m a little taken aback that you actually managed to have time to prepare it yourself. I shall enjoy these surely!” Unaware of course that they were of the dark chocolate, bitter variety and that those were not at all to his liking. He also had no idea what may have been racing in his companions mind at that very moment as his emerald gaze curiously studied the box he had been handed. “Shall we head inside? It’s most cold out. I had someone prepare us something for dinner.”
