I was just privy to a conversation about the newest kill team and how some tournaments are banning one of the new factions because apparently being a good melee threat while having the ability to ignore verticality is completely game breaking. Real glad Malifaux is the kind of game where you can have a guy that (mostly) ignores vertical distance, rockets up the table with blinding speed, and trying to kill him just gives him more movement, and he's not even particularly amazing. Another fat W for Malifaux in being more expressive and fun.

Happy Rainbow Capitalism Pride from the Guild! This logo will be taken down the microsecond June is over.
Truly the single best update on the new Malifaux page.

Okay so the thing that I love about the Guild — inarguably a bad organization — is that the Guild Masters are all just fucking, coworkers. Yeah sure they're a propagandist, a rogue necromancer, a monster hunter, Boston Dynamics, the dictionary definition of police brutality, Sir Civilian Casualties, a supernatural entity masquerading as a lawyer, and an evil wizard but they all also have to go to the company picnic. They have the same boss. Everyone has to take the same Soulstone safety and compliance training at the beginning of the year, every year.
It's just funny to me to think about the element of mundanity involved in this being their job. Some other Malifaux characters are forces of nature or evil spirits or otherworldly monsters or are motivated by individual desire. These guys? Yeah, it's their corporate job. Sorry I have to show up to beat your ass, but it's what I'm getting paid for. Yeah, benefits are great.
They're also all bad people, because of course they are, they've chosen to work for the imperialist colonizing rainbow capitalist military. Boston Dynamics and the Monster Hunter are kinda the most decent, on account of having the least harmful jobs. This is one of Malifaux's highest selling points, imo, which is that each Faction is awful but also not entirely in the wrong. It's a nice balance, fitting for a wargame.
Malifaux's rep is not always fantastic but it manages to pull off the Ten Thunders in a way that isn't 100% offensive. The Thunders are like. Here's three vaguely racist stereotypes. Here's three of the coolest women you've ever seen. And this fruity white man they own!
Every Sonnia fucker is like. I HATE her. She SUCKS. This is my favorite character in the universe and if she ever dies in the lore I'll quit the game forever.
