Yesterday in Nepal, the nation celebrated a Hindu festival called Holi, celebrating the beginning of spring, fertility, love and the triumph of good over evil. I researched on the origins of the festival and its significance to this people we have grown to love, but it was good to see first-hand how they celebrated. This is the 3rd festival celebrated on a ntional scale that we've witnessed since we went here, and the common thread of all three? Good triumphing over evil... tales that highlight great rescue because of love. Rings a bell, doesn't it? I also know of one true-to-life, one-of-a-kind, death-defying rescue done out of great love that brought great and everlasting triumph over beasts, demons and whatever evil there is. 😉😉😉 We saw our neighbors gather in the morning and paint each other's faces with powedered dye of amazing colors, some even in neon hues that glistened in the sun. The kids chased after each other with both water guns and water "bombs". Then there were some singing and some grooving as the community brought food to share with each other in the village's open air activity area. Our house was within observation view of all this. Understanding the culture first-hand, we decided to go to the city and walk around to see what's up. Thankfully, we didn't go out when the influx of celebrating masses filled the streets. But there were a lot of young people still left around the area, including this group of young ladies who were so gracious to give the boys this souvenir shot. :) #crosscultural #outwherethepeopleare #makingHimknown
