#makeup dupe

Recently I have been trying to be more responsible with my money and try and shop some more affordable skin products than what I am currently using. I was thinking about it the other night and realised I go through skincare products faster then makeup and the products I use in my routine are quiet pricey so I want more affordable options.

Luckily I found a serum sold in the drugstore that makes my skin feel just as amazing as the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Serum , £65.00 . Now I'm not saying this serum is a dupe in terms of ingredients but I will say this product makes my skin feel just as good so let's chat details. Today we are chatting about the Olay Regenerist Luminous Face Serum, Anti Aging Skin Tone Perfecting Serum with Niacinamide, £19.00. This serum is designed to give you:

I have been using the Olay Perfecting Serum for a month now and to be perfectly honest, my skin feels as if I've been using Magic Serum this whole time. It feels just as soft, glowy and hydrated but clearly it's a much more affordable option. Personally I'm so impressed because a drugstore serum feels just as a good as a luxury brand serum so moral of the story, shop around because you might find some great products that save you lots of money!

Beginning of April I started doing makeup dupe blog posts which you all seemed to enjoy a lot (thank you for reading those posts by the way) and during that series I asked for dupes you wanted me to check out. There was a lot of readers who suggested looking at a Revolution dupe for the iconic Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk quad palette.

When XX Revolution released their selection of colour quad palettes I remember looking at the colour stories thinking they reminded me of the Charlotte Tilbury Eye Colour Correct palettes, £40.00 which clearly you all did too. In the collection there is a specific pink toned nude palette called XXposed for £10.00 that has similar vibes to pillowtalk so I decided today we're going to be comparing the two and see what we think.

Starting with the PIllow Talk eyeshadow palette, £40.00. This palette is a staple in all of Charlotte's eyeshadow collection, most people would say it is the most iconic which I would have to agree. This palette is the perfect selection of pink nude tones which consists of shimmers, mattes and eye topper glitter shade. I adore this palette and use it weekly to say the least. Obviously since this is the high-end option of the two it is more pricey than a drugstore palette but the quality of shadows is amazing and it really blends like a dream.

Now let's chat about the drugstore option. When you put the two palettes together I wouldn't say they are identical but they definetly have their similarities. Looking at the design of the palettes both are a 4 pan quad that start in the top left with the subtle shimmer and both finish on the bottom left with a glitter. While the matte shades definitely look similar, the glitter shades on the bottom left are different, in the Charlotte palette the glitter is more of a subtle glitter topper to go on top of the other shimmer shades. Whereas in the XX Revolution palette the glitter shade is actually more of a foil glitter that is more pigmented.

If you take out the bottom left shades, the palettes are definetly similar in terms of colour story and overall both palettes blend like a dream and really give you a gorgeous subtle pink nude eye look. I love using these palettes and comparing over Pillow Talk dupes I would say this palette is by far the closest you'll find. Personally I would say it's worth checking out because both palettes are totally gorgeous but a £30.00 price saving is pretty impressive if you're on a beauty budget.

How are you all? Recently I’ve been trying out foundations that are a lot lighter and hydrating which if you know me well is very out of character since I love matte full coverage products. But I wanted to give my skin a bit of a break from the heavy duty matte makeup and see what the other side is like. After trying the Fenty Beauty Hydrating Foundation I wanted to try another drugstore version. Previously I’ve tried the Conceal and Hydrate foundation which I really enjoyed and a lot of comments said the Maybelline Urban Cover was a good dupe of the Fenty Beauty so I decided to give it a whirl.

Like the Fenty foundation this product is also a lightweight formula with the full coverage finish which recently seems to be a lot formulas that cosmetic companies are coming out with. Now one of the Benefits of the Maybelline foundation over the other foundations is that it has SPF 50 which for someone who is fair toned like myself I love that this foundation has extra protection for my face.

When I first looked up this foundation I wasn’t too sure how it would compare to the Fenty Hydrating Foundation just because that product is on the higher end so of course the formulation will be a little different. But that being said Maybelline really has come up with a contender, their foundation feels so lightweight when first applied. I decided to apply the foundation like I would a normal foundation with a buffing brush and straight away you could see the lightweight formula had a real high coverage finish on the face. This foundation is a Hydrating Full Coverage Foundation so while it does have full coverage this foundation isn’t a matte finish but that being said I wasn’t left as shiny on my face when I used the Maybelline compared to the Fenty formula. Urban Cover still leaves you with a glowy finish but it looks more glowy that shiney / oily which I really love.

Maybelline Urban Cover cost £10.00 and the Fenty foundation cost £27.00 so if you’re looking to try out a Hydrating Foundation like Fenty but don’t want to pay the highend price why not try Maybelline? Both foundations will give you that lightweight glowy Full Coverage finish, the only differences I would say are the coverage does last a bit longer on Fenty than Maybelline and Maybelline does leave you looking less shiny for a longer period of time if you have oily skin. But for the sake of saving £17.00 I’m sure anyone wouldn’t mind putting on some powder during the day. I have oily areas on my face so regardless of the foundation being matte or glowy I would have to powder my face anyway so don’t let that put you off. But like I said if you’re looking to try a highend foundation but prefer drugstore prices Maybelline Urban Cover is the perfect option.

Recently I was reading Cosmo on my iPad and they had a really interesting article about dupe makeup and underrated products. So half way through reading the article there was a small section about Primark beauty in particular The False Lash Queen mascara that was £3.00 and was compared to many highend mascaras being labelled the best drugstore dupe.

Reading through the article it was mentioned several times that this product reminded the writer of Too Faced and Benefit mascaras but being a much more affordable option. After reading the article I decided to go to my local Primark and hunt down this mascara, and it was not easy to find. I think since the article went viral a lot of people had the same idea. So after trying 2 Primarks 3rd time was in the fact the charm. When I finally got my hands on the mascara straight away the packaging reminded me of the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara the colours, the writing at the sides and the packaging of the mascara.

After reading so many different reviews on blogs I had some high expectations for this product and I was so happy with the results. After trying on this mascara straight away you can tell it’s a product with the purpose on volumizing your lashes and really giving you that false lash look, so clearly it’s named pretty accurately. It also doesn’t give you panda eyes when you wear it throughout the day which for me is a big issue so I was really impressed to not have this problem.

I’ve recommended this product to a few friends and family and they have all said how they loved the mascara and were really surprised by how great it left their eyeshadows looking. When I find a new product I love to tell people about it since a lot of my friends like trying out different products, it’s probably one of my favourite parts about reviewing makeup products.

If you’d like to give this mascara it’s available at Primark, unfortunately they don’t have a online website for selling so you may have to hunt down the mascara at your local branch but I promise you it’s so worth the hype.

So in true Bella Does Beauty fashion we have another Drugstore Vs Highend. This time around I will be comparing two blushers, from is from NARS (highend) and the other is considered a dupe from Primark (technically Drugstore) . Now while I love shopping for highend products, nothing makes me happier than finding a cheaper alternative especially if the products are extremely similar. Now because of my pale complexion the only blushers I have been able to use are NARS which are great products and genuinely last ages but they are expensive so when I read online that Primark are producing more ‘dupe’ makeup I got really excited.

So in the drugstore corner we have ‘PS.....’ which is a makeup brand from primark and they sell makeup products really cheap and are very well known for producing similar products to highend stores but cheaper pricing. Now this blush is advised on the front as ‘high pigment blusher’ and cost £1.50. First let’s appreciate how damn cheap that is for a product by any standard. While browsing the cosmetics section I found most of their products were very fairly priced and nothing was over £10 including the palettes which was most impressive. This particular is called Desire which subtly follows the theme of NARS products as they are known for being love related and sometimes rather sexual. The shade itself is a lovely pink with shimmer tones.

Now for the highend corner we have the original NARS blush which is shade Orgasim (yes this is the actual name I’m not joking and there are way worse names too), this blush retails for £25.00 which compared to some highend brands isn’t too bad but still VERY expensive when you compare it to the drugstore option. This blush is also a light pink with shimmer tones, now when I tried out both blushers many couldn’t tell the difference between the products I was wearing.

Ironically when I apply the NARS blush I always have to do it carefully as I’m very pale and the blush is very pigmented and when applying the Primark blush I found the exact same scenario. Both products offer amazing colour pay off and depending on your skin tone means sometimes you need to be a little light handed with your brush. Verdict is whether you choose to stick to the highend product or choose to try something different both products off the same finish.

Sometimes I think when it comes to products you’re paying more for the brand than the actual product. Based on first appearance I did assume the Primark one would be less pigmented as it was £1.50 which isn’t an unfair assumption as depending on the brand you try it can be the case. This is why I love doing highend vs drugstore tests because it’s a great remember that just because you’re not buying an expensive product doesn’t mean it’s not as good as another. Now I have a much affordable alternative whether I decide to repurchase NARS in the future when I need it who knows or maybe I won’t buy it and move to Primark blushers my point is when I can I will always give you options and honest opinions.
