This post, in comparison to my other post, will be a little different. I’m going to use this post to discuss something that is very prominent in today’s society, but even more impactful in female transitioning. That something is make-up. I know, I know that little spell makes it sound so extremely serious haha. Although make-up does come off as a serious choice for most young females reaching that teenage mark. The controversy surrounding it is at a new high and will always be a question of ample debate.Â
In my own personal experience, I was always on the fence about make-up. Why ? Simple, because my mother NEVER wore it and I was always afraid of looking “fake”. My skin had it’s moments of breakouts, which deterred me even more. Here and there I would try some eyeliner and mascara. Once or twice I even got fancy with some concealer to coverup those dark spots. Since then make-up has evolved to so much more. Make-up now has become more of an art form, other than the obvious movie make-up artist. The key to it all is to find the brand that fits your skin and go from their. The reason behind all the debate are those who put make-up on and look like one (probably amazing) person and then take it off and look like a completely different person and, other than movie make-up, that is the biggest problem. I didn’t want to be that female, that person who was fawned over while wearing make to the point I was afraid not to have it own because I’d look completely different. My choice, unlike many other females was simply to not wear it. Some females use make-up to cover and hide their natural face, but I believe we should embrace it.Â
After getting over my “fear” of make-up and looking “fake”. I decided I wanted to venture into the make-up world. Before I could start using products on my face I would need to clear my skin back up (which recently broke out due to stress and unhealthy eating). While I am journeying on my healthy happier life I told myself I would figure out the key to applying make-up without fully taking away from my natural features. Where better to go for tutorials than You-Tube? So I searched on products and searched for tutorials and I’m still collecting research, but one “youtuber” stood out to me with her regimens and application of product. She, which I will post separately, proved my theory to be true. If you take care of your skin and your body make-up will not define you but enhance you.Â
The problem with society is, it’s full of judgment and jealousy. So make-up being the perfect form of deception quickly brought out the worst in most by making them look “their best.” However make-up is an art form just like clothing or interior design or architecture. It takes something in it’s simplest form and combines another thing to make that something it’s most extravagant form. For an architect it might be taking a plank of wood with other planks of wood and plaster, etc to make a house, that doesn’t make the wood any less wood like just more sustainable to live in. So go ahead and test it out. You have nothing to loose. You’ll be beautiful without it just like you will be with it. Make-up takes a person, usually female, adds some color and definition to her most extravagant self. Why not be extraordinary here and there?Â
How do you guys fell about make-up ? Â Is it just a cover up to hide behind? Is make-up an art form?Â
