Join us this Thursday 11th of September for our In Conversation event at Manchester Craft and Design Centre 6-8pm. This is an informal Q&A session between the 6 core members of Makers Dozen and the audience where we will be discussing our experiences through the Collaborate Project as well as our individual practices.

Join Makers Dozen members Joseph Hartley and Jessica Swallow for this hands-on workshop exploring the marriage of opposing and challenging materials.

Through a set brief and set targets throughout the day, and a strict “no glue allowed” rule, Joe and Jessica will present a range of challenging (and potentially clashing) materials. The workshop will be an opportunity to experiment and produce objects through unusual ways of making.

In this exciting hands-on workshop, Joe and Jess will encourage you to think laterally through making, and through experimenting with raw materials coupled with ready-made objects. Jess and Joe both use ‘disparate’ materials and ready-mades in when designing and making, so this workshop will give you a real insight into how they work.

The quality of materials often dictates their design decisions, in particular when considering how materials can be attached to other objects. Joe and Jess want to challenge your preconceptions and you’ll leave this workshop with a new perspective on craft and design.

We are very happy to have a stall at the Art Carbooty this Sunday the 24th.  Expect a wide variety of work from members of Makers Dozen on sale to the public. Looking forward to a day of food, drink art and music!
