I don't think that'll ever happen. I don't think there are a lot of hard lines in the sand preventing it, but I think just enough people are gun shy that no serious conversations will ever happen, and, y'know, Tobey isn't getting any younger. He's not an old man yet, but he definitely has the look of a man who's worn a few more years since those days. The guy is approaching 50.

More than Marvel or Sony I also have to wonder if Disney would allow it. The sad reality is that things don't get made just because they're good ideas, there's branding considerations to consider, too. If the executives signing the checks don't like it, then it's not happening, and they might only be interested in a younger Peter Parker.

There are stories involving older heroes, sure, and the 71-year-old Michael Keaton was slated to return as Batman in the DCU, but I feel like there's a big big focus on making sure Spider-man stays young-ish. Peter Parker is a boy who doesn't have a father, and that is a driving element of a lot of his characterization and his best stories.

I think that, from a certain standpoint, there's going to be a guy in a suit who sees this pitch and goes "How are we gonna make action figures outta that? Kids want to be Spider-man, not watch someone older than their dad put on the costume."
