#wemakepenland I've had the fortune to attend Penland three times. Twice for two week courses and once for a fall concentration. Each time provided me with an opportunity to delve without distraction into my imagination, my inspirations, my ideas on design. I felt so free at Penland to experiment with ideas and techniques that i did not have time to explore in my home studio due to commissions and other ceramic business related commitments. The absolute unobstructed immersion into creative thought that Penland School.of Crafts provides is like no other opportunity i have experienced. I believe the community of staff, the continual rotation of teachers and students that attend Penland keep the fertile fields of creativity alive and thriving in a world that can be stressful and challenging to artists and craftspeople. I can not say or recommend enough to people active or interested in the art world how an opportunity to attend Penland can and will most definitely change ones craft. The piece pictured here is a design i created at my last session this summer with David Eichelberger @davideich at Penland. I was able to attend his class because i received a scholarship from Penland. Without that scholarship i would not have had the wonderful opportunity i was gifted.
