ℐnside Ťhe ℱort [Bird | Kahlan]
She was fascinated. The breton had never seen a castle this big- if the crumbling ruins could in fact be called a castle. Weathered chunks of stone sanded smooth by the wind lay strewn across the grassy floor, though curiously enough the fire pits lodged on top of the uneven walls were kept smouldering. Bird could hear the flames crackling faintly from her position crouched in the shadows cast by the ruin, head tilted in puzzlement. Recently tended fires- that meant someone was here.
The tiny forsworn closed her eyes, letting her hearing take on a wider range. She bit down on her tongue, concentrating hard. Yes- there. If she listened hard enough she could just about make out a faint scuffling, muffled by the outer stone walls of the fort. Inside, hidden. Dangerous, maybe, but curiosity drove her forward, still crouched cautiously.
Nearing the wooden entrance, the Bird prodded it with one finger. The door slowly swung open with a loud creak.
