đ” for lorna!
Send âđ”â and Iâll reply with a song thatâs related to my muse and Iâll explain why
for lorna dane, 100% her theme in my head is:
who's afraid of little old me? by taylor swift
mainly because, it fits her incredibly well. the way people look at lorna like sheâs something small, something fragile, something breakable, right up until she isnât. mainly because lorna is very much a product of her environment (albeit some genetics are involved), but sheâs often been perceived as unstable and emotionally volatile which meant, to others, she wasnât in control of her abilities and, therefore, a threat. sheâs spent her life being framed through that lens, as if the fear was inherent to her instead of something shaped around her by everyone who needed her to be controllable.
and at a certain point, it stops being about proving them wrong. it becomes more about acceptance and clarity within herself than anger with not meeting expectations. just understanding exactly what they see when they look at her, and no longer adjusting herself to make that image easier to swallow. if theyâre afraid of her now, it isnât because she became something new. itâs because they finally have to reckon with what was there all along.
