My aunt was going through some old pictures she had and let me and my siblings pick some out. Let me tell you a bit about these woman. These woman are strong woman who gave life to children both girls and boys who are and will grow into strong men and woman. Two out of the 4 have passed (my grandma on the right top and my cousin on the bottom left). Ancestors don’t have to be old nor specifically religious. I do this for myself. I know I won’t forget them. I don’t like to talk about the dead like they are past tens. It is my belief that they are still around whether it’s in heaven, another alternate reality, or for some a special place in some version of hell (hopefully they went with gasoline drawrs on). I believe there is still forgiveness after death and I believe both my grandma and my cousin and anyone else who has passed on still pops by to check in on there loved ones. Look for the signs sometimes they are small and to some trivial. Sometimes they are big and can be seen and experienced by anyone willing. They can still teach us lessons and they can still learn from us. When I hear the phrase, “so and so would be proud”. I don’t think “would” is the proper word I think they are proud of whom ever even if they are dead. She along with all my children are magic. When children are young they don’t have anything but wide eyes and open mind. I would really like to one day be able to designate my own piece of property for green burial for my family. I would love to have planted herbs and flowers instead of grass and fruit trees of all kinds. I would also love to plant a willow tree where I lay in a shroud naturally decomposed in the earth. Where my children can come visit in a magical sacred place and maybe they will want to be buried or scattered their you never know. I am not quit sure how to relate this to Down’s syndrome. I guess death is a subject that unique even though it happens to us all. Even though the thought of it happening to us can be in nerving it really gives us some hard un wanted feelers when it comes to our kids especially when they have disability. I wonder often who will take care of Evi if Heath and I are dead and gone? Will her brothers step up (by no means do I expect them to) or does she go to a relative or a family friend? What if I out live her? What could she die of? What will I do?
