Terrible Fanfic Idea #1
I had a terrible, cruel idea for a fanfic - something I may never write, but just wanted to field the idea. So, Horde Prime is allergic to magic, right? Stands to reason that his tech is wonky with magic, ye olde “magic vs. technology war” trope stuff (a trope I’m actually incredibly tired of. I much prefer magic and tech working together in stories and magitek... at least some versions of The Legend of Zelda are starting to feed me). And, in Season 2, Hordak was complaining about Etheria’s atmosphere complicating his scientific efforts. This was revealed to be the whole dimensional Despondos pocket (or possibly ambient magic), but back in the Day, in early fandom, a lot of people thought that the magic of Etheria was causing Hordak’s health-problems. (Before the genetic-defect thing was revealed) - And some people still think that Hordak’s actual defect wasn’t his body, but his free will. Anyway, despite some of the canon-torpedoing of old fan-theories, perhaps one can still base a fic in them. Perhaps the magic of Etheria was making a condition that Hordak already had worse... And where my horrible idea comes from? What if it applies to all of the clones? Post-series, in the absence of Prime, their society and their tech (She-Ra turned their flagship into a friggin’ tree)! the clones find themselves on a magic-unleashed Etheria and it turns out that they’re all deadly-allergic to magic! The clones start getting sick! Some start dying! And because it’s pretty clear that they are people - ala friendship with Wrong Hordak - Adora / She-Ra has to deal with this unintended consequence of saving the universe! How does she deal with this poor dying race that’s literally allergic to the thing she’s brought back to the universe?
