Magic Trackpadに「休める状態」を作ってほしい話
マウスが好きな人間がMagic Trackpadを使い続けて気づいたこと。
指を浮かせてないといけない、あの緊張感がずっとある。
マウスは置いてるだけなら何も起きない。手の重さを预けて、動かしたい時だけ動かせる。「ゼロ入力状態」が自然に存在する。
でもトラックパッドは「触れている=入力」なので、常に制御し続けないといけない。これが地味に疲れる。
✏️ 提案
手を普通にトラックパッドに乗せると、親指を除いて3〜4本の指が自然に触れる。
この状態を**「休息状態」**として定義し直す。状態動作3・4本指で静止休息(カーソル動かない)3・4本指でバッファ以上移動普通のカーソル移動(マウス的)1本指だけ残す精密操作モード2本指現行ジェスチャーそのまま
💡 なぜこれが自然なのか
「1本指=ペン」という身体メタファーがある。
細かい文字を書く時、人は無意識に「ペンを持つ」動作をする。人差し指一本を残して精密操作、というのはそれと全く同じ心理。説明しなくても体が理解する。
そして「複数指を乗せる=休息」も習得不要。手を乗せるだけなので、今と同じ動作が休息のトリガーになる。
🦋 既存ジェスチャーへの影響
2本指ジェスチャー(スクロール、ピンチズームなど)は最も使用頻度が高いので一切触らない。
再定義が必要なのは3・4本指ジェスチャーのみ。これらは正直あまり知られていないし、使用頻度も低い。影響範囲はかなり狭い。
🔍デメリットとメリットの非対称性
メーカー側が失うもの: 3・4本指ジェスチャーの一部再定義。それだけ。
ユーザーが得るもの:
長時間作業での疲労軽減
誤操作の減少(手を置いた瞬間カーソルが飛ぶストレスが消える)
マウスユーザーへの門戸が開く
学習コストほぼゼロ
失うものが小さくて、得るものが大きい。
👍 本質
Appleはずっと「デバイスに身体を合わせさせる」方向に進化してきた。
この提案は逆で、「身体が楽な状態のまま、デバイスが合わせてくる」 という思想。
道具に緊張を強いられる必要はない。
なんでこれ今まで誰もやらなかったんやろな、というレベルの話だと思うんやけど。
