Going to start rehearsals for my first ever opera role today (third lady in Magic Flute), and I just realized that I have not been in a theatrical production since I played the genie in Aladdin Jr. in fifth grade (lmao). Like Iâve done a lot of classical performing in college, but this is very much a new thing, and Iâm nervous đŹ. Iâm excited though! My voice teacher has sung First Lady a lot, so she was really able to help me with the ensemble aspect of it. The other challenge is that my voice also sits a bit higher as a mezzo, but Iâm really proud of what Iâve been able to learn about my lower range while preparing this role.
