Si vous aviez entre 20 et 30 ans dans les années 80 ou si, plus jeunes, vos parents vous ont biberonné aux sons et aux idées de cette décennie, ne manquez pas l’exposition « Années 80 » au Musée des Arts décoratifs jusqu’au 16 avril 2023. Un vent de nostalgie souffle sous les voûtes du musée. En toute partialité, avouons que ces années frénétiques, ère du fric assumé, de la frime, de l’insouciance et de la légèreté ont été marquées par une extraordinaire créativité. Portées par une force tranquille mitterandienne, triomphante en 81 puis convertie à l’économie de marché dès 83 , les initiatives politiques ambitieuses catalysent l’évolution des modes de vie. Abolition de la peine de mort, dépénalisation de l’homosexualité, libéralisation des radios, grands travaux au Louvre, à La Défense ou à la BNF, commandes publiques pour le mobilier, fête de la musique provoquent un formidable élan de la société. Tout semble possible dans les années 80. La culture se réconcilie avec la ville. La contre-culture s’exprime sans bride dans les radios, à la TV, au Palace ou aux bains douches. La pub spectacle qui fait décoller une Citroën visa GTI d’un porte-avion soutient une frénésie de consommation . Le look multiple des années 80 se dessine sous le crayon de Gaultier, Kenzo ou Agnès b.. Un nouveau design français émerge sous la houlette, notamment, de Starck. En 89, le mur de Berlin tombe.
