I watched my friend play madou hanamaru daiyouchienji a few days ago and I've been thinking about little arle and the orb iirc she encounters. don't ask who the kid with her is, I don't know.

Beat Madou Monogatari 1 on MSX (Switch release)!
Somehow got through without a guide and purely on muscle memory of the GameGear remake. Though I did… accidentally? Sequence break and fought Cockatrice via the UP/GO spell when I didn't have the all the orbs or tablets. Of course, the path to the final boss won't spawn so it didn't matter too much.
Pretty tricky boss too, near impossible with the level I was at. If anyone else wants to look into this sequence break, feel free. Maybe it has a use in speedruns for this game?
Mamono on the other hand uhhhh, as much as I love the fluffy lil guy I can see why he was replaced in later remakes of Madou 1 with Fudoushi (or in the case of the Mega Drive remake, redeemed and then overshadowed by Satan)
He took about 8-10 turns stalling, with the dialogue saying "Mamono is coming!" allowing me to charge Diacute then finish off with uncharged spells near the end…
Very anti-climatic, compared to Cockatrice constantly dealing damage…
