My grandma just got carted off to the hospital a few hours ago and this is literally the 3rd time she's gone in a month. I'm doing all that I can to keep her well but her COPD is constantly acting up and she keeps getting pneumonia. I'm not getting enough help and it feels like I'm singlehandedly keeping her alive. I'm doing my best but it is not working.
My uncle who is supposed to help me has been doing absolutely nothing lately. He thinks that just because he goes to work he doesn't have to do anything. He just goes to work and cooks dinner. No other chores. And he doesn't even take care of my grandma anymore. But he complains and complains about how much I sleep as if I do not stay up until past 4 am for her schedule. She has to be on the CPAP at night and she doesn't want to take it off any later than 4 so we do 10-4. I can't sleep while she is on it because sometimes she loosens it or she wants something. She calls me constantly at night time. She doesn't even sleep the whole time.
Just yesterday her breathing was bad when I took the cpap off her at 4am so I had to stay up until 9:30 in the morning to stabilize her. It was finally better so I went to sleep. I didn't want to have her go to the doctor so early and she was just fine the day before. Before I went to bed, she called her doctors office and told them what was up and they sent some medicine to the pharmacy. She was coherent but borderline all day. Not her best breathing levels, up and down throughout the day (she said so). BUT my uncle didn't get the medication. He waited until 6pm despite being told hours before that it was ready. And the pharmacy was closed when he finally went. So she only just got her medication at 2pm today. And now she is in the hospital.
Yesterday, I ended up sleeping until 6pm and he griped and griped about it. As if I was not up until almost 10 in the fucking morning. He didn't do anything the entire day and had the audacity to complain about me. He couldn't even pick up his mother's medication. He said to me "You should've told me you needed it tonight". I shouldn't have to!! You should get off your video games and go get your sick mother her medication.
Anyway, she's in the hospital again because her levels got much lower today. Idk if the medicine would have changed anything but I'm still very upset at my uncle for how he acted yesterday. It is extremely stressful being someone's sole caretaker when she can't stop getting sick. Last month was hell and it seems like this month won't be much better. I can barely even have time for myself lately because of how needy she gets. And I sleep all day because I stay up all morning. I feel much better sleeping than being awake anyway. There's way too much to do and I don't want to do any of it.
One might say to put her in a nursing home but that is not an option. I'm not in charge of my grandma at all legally. I am not even going to bring it up with my family because they wouldn't react well. Just 2 weeks ago I was threatened physically and got a lashing about how I don't actually want to take care of her. That's a whole other story. The point is that I'm in no position to suggest a nursing home. My grandma has brought it up before and I've shut her down. I can't be the reason that she gets sent off. I'd never hear the end of it. My family already thinks I'm not doing enough despite how hard I'm trying. And my uncle's incompetence just gets pushed under the rug and I'm meant to adapt to it. I want out but I'm literally the only thing keeping her alive.
I am so stressed out. I just had such a healing week and now it's back on the bullshit.
