This might be the prettiest photo I’ve ever seen of myself. I love this photo. That’s a powerful statement. I’ve been reflecting on my insecurities lately and I’m recognizing that I’m more confident. Photos help me recognize that I am beautiful. Sometimes I get anxious about how I look. I worry someone will see something masculine in me that will cause them to disrespect me, ask me uncomfortable things, or attack me. I’ve been followed, chased, yelled at, pushed, and grabbed in the past. I also hear too many stories of trans women—mainly of color—being murdered. Between my fear and the edited/filtered photos we see everyday on social media and ads, I sometimes hold myself to unachievable standards. After a lot of time and dedication, I’ve been able to work through a lot of this. So f💲➕⚫️✖️ expectations and binary cisgender heterosexual standards of beauty.
