Mackenzie, a devout atheist whose faith currently finds itself being shaken, attempts to sound roguish and flippant. The concerned way her eyebrows furrow — the severity of her stare — these things betray her. 

“Do you think we can find somewhere more low-key?”

“It is nice to be a hero, but it’s better to be anything that anyone could want in a woman.” Mackenzie smiles like they are sharing an inside joke. “I mean, don’t you think?”

"dr lyon." clarrisa raised her eyebrow towards the resident before shifting awkwardly as she approached them, running her finger and thumb along her lips, she crossed her arms and nodded. "good work today." she wouldn't say it if she didn't mean it. she knew they had been stretched today, everyone was and since coming back with a more aggressive approach, mackenzie had done anything but falter under the pressure - perhaps he was outperforming her on some level... she'd never thought about that before, an ego too grand for an arena but ever since she had come back, she had an uncertainty about her that was masked with yelled orders (a contrast to dr kessler. and perhaps why she'd never hack being chief). @sutvres
