Signage along the Arrow River trail to Macetown has improved in the year since we first hiked this trail. The Hayes Creek sign is above a near vertical bank which descends to the Arrow River, then a river crossing and a very steep climb on the opposite side, understand this goes to Eichardt's Flat, junction with Sawpit Gully trail, from there joins the trail back to Arrowtown
Heading up the Arrow River to Macetown I crossed this old swingbridge, not recommended it is in need of maintenance, falling apart and no tension in the wires supporting it.
I chose to walk across the river on my return.
