Richard:

As a child he’d fantasize about running away over the breakfast table. Milk carton kids weren’t a thing yet, but were they, I imagine he’d be quite enamored with the idea of being one.

Will flip through Rolling Stone, Circus, etc. magazine whenever coming across one in book/grocery stores, or on the rare occasion when buying cigarettes or topping off Henry’s BMW at a gas station. Likes NME or Smash Hits too if he can get his hands on them.

Thought ironically of summer nights sleeping with a portable fan proped in his open bedroom window while lying awake shivering in the warehouse, in that place between sleep and awake he could’ve almost sworn he heard that fan running

Had to learn how to huff cough + Started side sleeping for ease of breathing + His laugh had a rattle in it for months after he recovered from pneumonia.

Startles easily/ jumpy

Keeps a messy journal that he’ll write in for a few days straight before forgetting about it for weeks at a time. He doesn’t code it in Greek or anything but he is very melodramatic and cryptic so if anyone were to read it they wouldn’t get any tea, just lyrical bitching and the odd contextless jotting. I just know instagram notes would hate to see him coming.

U can practically see when a, shall we say, dark thought passes through him cus his eye twitches, it looks like he’s winking almost

Borrows Judy’s Sony Walkman sometimes, she's a social butterfly and keeps herself booked and busy so she doesn't miss it much, he pesters her about getting new tapes, less “chick stuff.”

He's already got a permanent line between his brows from being perpetually posted up with an attitude. From afar, ppl think he's confronatational and aloof (and that suits him just fine) but in actuality he’s just shy or lost in overthinking.

He’s an angry cryer, absolutely hates it when he can’t hold back the tears as he works so hard to curate a carefully constructed image. Not being able to control his emotional responses makes him feel ridiculous and feeble.

Jude:

Car girl, it was a daddy-daughter hobby when she was a kid + she has an oversized sleepshirt with the Mattel hot wheels logo (from the 80s obvs) on it. She got it from a car show in the valley that had irl cars next to their miniature toy counterpart.

Naturally curly hair pattern, but heat damage keeps it from holding as tight as it otherwise would, but hey, no need to perm

U can find at least three of her scrunchies in Richard’s room at any given time, he picks them up and deposits them back in her room (cus they mess up his vibe and he doesn’t want ppl thinking he has a girl), but they always find their way back. She has a habit of putting her hair up and taking it back down multiple times within the hour, and so, when in her room, her car, or her friend’s rooms, she’s content to throw the scrunchy wherever and leave it where it lies. Likewise if she needs one, all she has to do is look around and chances are there's one within arms reach.

Keeps a scrap book of fabric swatches, sizing notes, sketches, magazine cutouts that were used as references, and playbills from shows she's worked on.

Milly:

Has a special appreciation for days that are overcast but warm.

Rarely swears but absolutely does not shy away from vulgar topics. Charles is the just the opposite, a real profanitist but oddly coquettish about certain subjects.

She’s got a little watch with a thin brown leather strap and argent metal (she’s a silver girly almost exclusively, being cool toned) that she wears everyday.

Every so often, instead of dinner, she’ll make herself and Charles a charcuterie board to pick at throughout the evening. He likes the fruits: dried apricot, fig, berries, pomegranate seeds, as well as nuts and breads, while she likes the cheese, crackers, meats, and chocolate. They compete for the olives.

A happy drunk, you can tell she’s buzzed by if she’s wearing a perpetual little smile or laughing too easily

Bit jealous of Richard’s friendship w/ Judy, both because she doesn't like to share Richard’s attention and because she begrudgingly finds Judy interesting despite knowing Jude would have nothing to do with her after the spilled drink incident <- some cognitive dissonance there as Cam likes to look down on ppl like her for being “simple” yet finds her open demeanor and magnetic personality compelling (attractive?? question mark?? From a distance that is).

Bralette wearer, has fashion boobs so it’s not like she needs the support + she strikes me as a person who will sleep in panties and nothing else, or panties and Charles’ big sweaters/socks if its cold

Henry:

If Richard doesn’t pick up the phone on days when Henry knows he’s not out, he might try Judy’s number to see if he’s down the hall at her’s. She hates having to speak to him, and chewed Richard out for giving him her number (even if their exchanges are akin to just “Hello, is he in?” “No.” “Thank you, goodbye.” Or “Yes.” “Will you put him on please?”) but she stays relatively cordial for Richard’s sake. Henry has no idea why she might dislike him, nor does he take notice of it in the first place.

His leg aches when the weather turns + he’s got a compression sleeve for it

Gets motion sick when riding as a passenger on long car rides; too much ambient sensory input. It won’t happen if he’s the driver or if it’s nighttime. If he absolutely has to be a passenger during a long ride, for whatever reason, he’ll take Dramamine to knock out and sleep through as much of it as possible.

When he gets migraines, the aura will be in the left eye, not always, but mostly.

Rapid blinking, flared nostrils, and a thousand yard stare indicate when he’s on the verge of a crash out.

Bunny:

He got the milkshake to share w/ Marion, he was waiting for her in the mess when Charles walked by.

Fucks heavy with zotz candy, made Henry try some one Halloween back when they were roommates, neglected to mention they were fizzy…he didn't like it. Went as far as to spit it out and then brush his teeth for good measure.

He scrunches his nose like a rabbit when he’s pissed. (I’ll never tire of Bunny having rabbit characteristics, no matter how on the nose (ha))

Charles:

The stomach sleeper to Francis’ back sleeper.

Sneezes loud as hell. It makes Richard jump and gets a side eye from Henry for being disruptive

In the context of looks, implicates Camilla with the usage of an “us” instead of me/I, ie “Ever thought of growing your hair out a bit more?” “No it doesn’t suit us.”

Francis:

Likes seafood

There’s a garden at the old house; when the Greek class visits, he takes the opportunity to pick rosemary and put it in his shampoo bottles (thinning hair runs in the family and he’ll be damned if).

His favorite color is red, but it clashes with ginger hair so he doesn’t get to wear it much :(

He keeps/steals flowers from special events: a bit off a wedding centerpiece, taken from someone’s lapel late in the night, picked from landscaping or flower arrangements, or pieces saved from given/received bouquets, and keeps them in a book of pressings, each page containing a few flowers/petals and labeled with the date of the occasion from which they were taken.

Richard:

He’s the shortest in the group (save Mills) and is super insecure about it!!

U may remember my other hc about Judy’s Walkman, I’m adding an amendment: it’s the first model that has the y-jack, meaning it has two slots for headphones so two people could use it at once >:)

On the last Sunday of the month he has dinner with Judy at a classic American diner, they order breakfast food for dinner as a tradition. She gets pancakes, her order comes with a side of eggs, a choice of sausage or bacon, and hashbrowns, but she always asks to get French fries instead of the hashbrowns. Richard’s order is French toast with eggs and diced skillet potatos. The staff thinks they’re dating

He doesn’t care for kids but also doesn’t go out of his way to be mean to them either. Kids on the other hand for some reason rlly like him, maybe cus he talks to them like they’re adults

Closer to his sister than his brother. His brother is the odd one out having been from dad’s previous marriage, however there was a time when Richard was a toddler that he desperately wanted his brother’s approval

The age difference between Richard and his brother is six years, and the dif between Richard and his sister is three

His parents cheat on each other all the time but refuse to get divorced + his dad is jealous of how much his mom pulls. In my mind she’s very swagger-y, like female frank sinatra, that’s where Richard got the idea to frame her as an ex-starlet + He put up with a lot of “Man your mom’s a fox” comments from buddies growing up

Lost his virginity uncomfortably young, like, went home afterwards and watched Schoolhouse Rock!, Sesame Street, Scooby doo, etc. young.

Can’t receive gifts/ have others paying for him without now feeling indebted or an sense of obligation towards them

He likes solitaire poker more than og solitaire

Cam:

Learns the rules of solitaire poker from Richard, and he only mansplained a little, cookie for him

There used to be two phones in the apt, but Cam got rid of one (said it broke) just in case Charles ever got the bright idea to listen in on one while she’s using the other

She knows how to drive but doesn’t have a license

Keeps to herself but isn’t shy

Fav non alcoholic beverage is cucumber lemonade

Takes her bc at 9pm, will excuse herself to do it in the bathroom if she’s hanging with the Greek class, she’ll be damned if she lets Bunny see her do it. Henry’s already put together what she’s doing because she does it at the same time everyday

Plays solitaire with herself after a shower because it takes exactly one game’s time for her hair to dry

It’s important to her that the apt’s hardwood floor stays clean because she likes to be barefoot

Carries Oliver Goldsmit sunglasses in her bag, she doesn’t have any hair to hide behind so these work as an alternative, that and sometimes it’s just bright out, snow is very reflective u know

Her scent combo is floral perfume + oat body lotion + cigarettes

What perfume you ask? Chanel No. 19, top notes: galbanum, hyacinth, neroli, and bergamot, heart: iris root, rose, jasmine, and narcissus, bottom: oakmoss, vetiver, leather, and sandalwood. She’d smell botanical, like damp forest floor but also clean and powdery, while the base is grounded, aloof, and ever so slightly masculine.

I think she’d know how to read tarot cards/ have a particular interest in augury + dream interpretation + just prophecy/divination in general. Almost as if she’d like to be able to anticipate tragedy

Tries to make beignets every so often, hasn’t quite gotten the dough right/ mastered proofing the yeast but she’s getting closer

Writes morbid short stories

Leaves glasses/mugs/cups on her nightstand, doesn’t clean them up until it’s so crowded she can’t put anything else on it and has to bring them to the sink. That or Charles cleans them up when they run out of mugs, he needs his morning hangover coffee. Gotta have his cup of coffee with a shot of brandy, or he’ll have a bloody mary, he thinks there being vegetables in it makes it healthier

Also I think she’d have a carafe as well. She wakes up in the middle of the night wanting water, maybe she has nightmares or dreams, she’s not sure, can’t remember

Henry:

Fucking hates solitaire poker, either play poker or play solitaire, preferably solitaire

On a number of occasions greater than zero, his glasses have prompted people to ask if he’s a fan of the Beatles.

Has had casual sex with men and women (for the experience duh), but has never dated. The period in which he and Bunny were roommates was probably the closest he’s ever come to having a something similar to steady partner.

Doesn’t like to be idle, when left alone with his thoughts, hours will slip by without him noticing. The only thing that will rouse him is a dramatic changing of the light, ie it getting dark outside/the sun coming up

Was told to “fix his face” a lot as a child, which he found exasperating because to his knowledge he was expressionless (and he was)

He seems like the kind of person who would hiss in pain rather than cry out

Looks a few years older than he is, and has since he was a kid

Loves to discuss hypotheticals with Camilla

Makes a point not to indulge compliment/reassurance fishing (looking at u Bunny, Francis, and Richard )

Lowkey I think he might be part of a crime family 💀 (oooh mafia boss enemies to lovers type shit gtf outta my face with that). Think about it though, he’s new money, maybe his accident was him being caught in the crossfire of an attempt on his dad. idk

Bad circulation, cold hands and feet

Besides gardening, he keeps lots of indoor plants, the ones that need humidity live in the bathroom

Shaves with a straight razor

Has slept in his living room chair or in the library many times because he fell asleep there, reading

Has journals dating back years, like boxes of them, all carefully labeled with dates

Keeps a 16oz bottle of isopropyl alcohol in the trunk of his car + plus a first aid kit + a Swiss Army knife + a magnesium fire starter as well as 10 grand in cash in a lock box stuck up under the driver’s seat. Richard probably finds it someday

Bunny:

He can do realism but he prefers to draw cartoons and caricatures

Keeps a supply of Big League Chew, he’ll offer some to Richard whenever he takes it out for himself cus he and Richard r the only ones who don’t smoke (at least not on the regular in Richard’s case)

Thinks he could absolutely survive on a desert island

Professional gaslighter

Very romantic behind closed doors and nothing if not passionate

Eats the last portion of food but puts the empty container back in the fridge/pantry instead of throwing it away. Has been a victim of himself, in this way, by going to grab something then finding it’s empty.

When he finds a new song he likes, he’ll play it over and over again till he’s sick of it. One of these was Corey Heart’s I Wear My Sunglasses at Night

Makes the Greek class laugh by recounting epic cycle myths á la drunk history

Very dramatic and woe is me about getting sick

Henry might utilize his art skills by asking him to draw a diagram for his notes

Mild interest in astronomy, had a telescope as a kid + went through a quick phase where he wanted to be an astronaut

His fav color is blue

He still enjoys going to Disneyland as an adult

He and Charles: two dumb bitches telling each other “exactlyyyy”

Charles:

Great at whistling, Henry doesn’t care for it but he can admit it’s quite impressive

I like to think he might have an interest in either photography or cinematography, something with cameras. It’d be cute if he captured memories of the Greek class with with one of these mediums.

Very generous and thoughtful + fiercely protective regarding those he cares about

Getting a physical injury makes him angry, ex: if he were to trip or fall and someone asks if he’s alright/tries to help him up, he’d prob lash out due to pain or embarrassment. Very much a walk it off in solitude type of person.

He doesn’t moan in bed but rather grunts and gasps, animalistic

Bad pollen allergies

Enjoys saltwater taffy

Disassociates to get a break from his emotions

He’s the type to “apologize” by letting time pass, then acting all buddy-buddy again as if nothing happened

Wanted to grow a mustache once but Cam vetoed that with swiftness

Thinks Francis + Richard look especially nice in the fall when the leaves match their hair

Francis:

Really likes the song I, Me, Mine off The Beatles’ Let it Be (the old house has a copy of the record, his mom’s); one because the lyrics resonate w/ him, but also because it has a 3/4 time signature, meaning you can waltz to it. He liked to think maybe Richard or Charles would learn to play it for him? He never did ask though.

I like to think he might dabble in amateur perfumery

Scared of aging, doesn’t consider this in relation to smoking

Keeps a change of clothes in his car

Collector of unconventional rings, his fav is an intaglio ring with the image of Aphrodite and Eros etched into red glass.

Is a person who brings up his own similar experiences to try to relate to someone in conversation, he has to remind himself not to be overzealous so others don’t think he’s trying to co-opt the convo and make it about him (though if they didn’t mind he wouldn’t either…bro loves to talk about himself)
