Well, I'm gradually evolving and making the timeline of this AU, that is, currently they haven't met yet! However, I definitely intend to have the twins meet the Grunkles (Maybe Fiddleford already considered one?) possibly.

But here's a little bit of what I imagine of them getting to know each other:

what if mabel was the one that got possessed by bill cipher?

YES I AM TAKING HEADCANONS FOR THE DIPPER-MABEL CIPHER AU AND YOU READ MY MIND~ I was already considering this too! It makes sense, especially if Bill’s been split between the two of them- their personalities make it happen~

Background info:

This is a CROSSOVER AU, though I haven’t mentioned it until now. The original idea has Norman in it. He came to Gravity falls to visit, because he knows the twins six months after all this happens….

Six months ago, the story really begins with Gideon. Dipper has been engrossed in his book and research, giving Gideon plenty of time. He reads about a  wishing stone, finds one and slips it to Mabel. The stone contains exactly three wishes. The first wish she uses to get even with Pacifica (by accident, it was not an intentional wish) and then realizes she is very lucky. Dipper voices his suspicions that the sparkly rock is a wishing stone, so she wishes again to test out the stone and finds it works, winning her a prize of all you can eat ice cream. 

Dipper is very concerned, because he read about wishing stones, and how the final wishes tend to be bad for the wisher. Mabel says he’s being a spoilsport and decides to prolong the last wish, wanting it to be good. 

Eventually, she and Dipper get into an argument, and Mabel (saying he always ruins everything, especially her fun) wishes Dipper had never been born. He immediately disappears, and Mabel tries desperately to get people to remember him, but no one does. Not Wendy, not Stan, no one. So she reads the book after having to track it down. Several things are wrong in the world- she’s dressed like Gideon (presumably because she and he never ‘broke up’) and Wendy and Robbie are together etc. etc. 

She tracks them to a spot in the woods where reality and dreams are thinnest and finds Bill there with Dipper in an hourglass, his time running out. When the sand runs out, he’ll belong to dreams, and thus Bill. 

Mabel makes a deal with Bill. She’ll trade herself for Dipper if he will “free him from his icky fate”. He agrees, but the deal backfires. Bill’s idea of “freeing Dipper from his fate” is not the same as Mabel’s and since she wasn’t specific, he runs with it. By splitting himself into two and taking over Dipper, he uses Mabel’s IOU and takes her over to.

So now we have the twins running wild and spirits (exempt from regularities of relativity and reality etc. etc.) are the only ones who know of it.

Six months later, Norman, a friend of the twins from a couple years back, should be excited to see Dipper and Mabel again, even though for some reason everyone keeps saying he’s just being ridiculous and talking about ghosts again. When he gets to Gravity Falls, it’s like a dystopia- Everything is dark and twisted. People are monsters, places are traps or rigged, and even though he is uneasy somehow his parents just LET him stay there. Confused, Norman stays at the shack, where Stan basically acts like he never HAD the twins there, nor even knew about them. (He’s lying though) He has to give Norman 3, but to his shock, Bill’s page is smeared and another two pages (and a splash page) talk only about dream demon twins that look all too familiar….

Basic info: 

The twins are the most powerful together because they balance each other. 

No other known weaknesses though. It is rumoured that there is a chance Mabel can be distracted with shiny things and sweaters, but it is unknown if it is true. It is also rumoured you can stall Dipper if you take his lists, but this is also unknown if it is true.

They can control time and relativity, manipulate dreams into reality, and force horrific visions upon others. They can go into people’s mins and play for as long as they wish, but they have to be summoned to do so, otherwise they ignore anyone who tries to boss them around (even then there’s a chance they will even if summoned). 

They cannot be banished unless they are done so together. 

The hold a huge grudge against Gideon, even though he summoned them. Dipper has a lovely horror planned for him, though he is patient and can wait to inflict it.

Mabel Cipher:

Mabel is way more chaotic and unpredictable than her brother. She is everything Bill’s craziness and fun can take shape. The unpredictability and wildness of her actions can make her seem spaced out and useless, but don’t you dare think that for a minute. She is the essence of dreams and reality or not, she knows exactly how to manipulate reality into dreams and turn them chaotic. Though she is unpredictable, she is aware of every one of her actions and simply does them for her own amusement.  

Set her off and she can easily blast a hole trough your stomach for absolutely no reason. She is a ticking time bomb! Every one of her actions are not considered nor preconceived. They just happen. Spontaneity is her middle name. At any given moment, she could turn on you, and Dipper is the only one who can stall or delay her actions (though he usually only does so for their own benefit).

Dipper Cipher:

Cold and calculating, he is every bit of Bill’s  intellectual, obsessive compulsive side. His deal-making, deal-breaking side. He comes to rash decisions very quickly, and though it might seem like he takes his time to make up his mind, when it comes to people, he immediately knows how and when he will betray you. In full detail. He’s made handouts for the occasion and everything. So never be fooled! He might seem like he’s trying to let you come to a decision, he may even let you help him come to a decision. But it’s all an illusion- he knows exactly what he wants and he will make sure you come to the same conclusion with as much manipulative force as he can muster.

It takes a lot to get him angry- REALLY angry. He can get miffed, but if he is full on furious you had better watch out because he WILL take action, most likely driving you utterly insane. Because he’s not about to kill you- that would be too easy. If he is that angry with you, you bet he will make your life a living nightmare, until you go bonkers, then he may consider leaving you alone. He is the only one who can stall his sister’s actions, but do not mistake it for mercy- you OWE him if he spares you his sister’s unintentional or intentional wrath. 

And you don’t want to owe Dipper Cipher a favour, trust me.
