Nine Inch Nails leads my monthly Most Played Singles with “Less Than,” which becomes the 4th #1 for Trent Reznor & Co, following 2005’s “The Hand That Feeds,” 2007’s “Survivalism,” and 2013’s “Came Back Haunted.” “Less Than” rises 3-1 despite a slight 15% drop in playcount with 28 off-line plays accumulated last month.
Shakira is back, after reaching #5 with “Me Enamore” in July, as “La Bicicleta” – her duet with fellow Colombian singer Carlos Vives (and featuring Maluma on remixes) – debuts at #2 with 26 combined Amazon Prime streams & off-line iTunes plays.
Lana Del Rey earns her 13th Top 10 as “Lust For Life” featuring The Weeknd rockets 42–3 with 24 off-line plays accumuated last month, +243% compared to the month before last. “Lust” takes this month’s Greatest Gainer honors.
ODESZA’s 3rd #1 “Late Night” falls 1–4 with 21 combined streams & off-line plays, –57%.
Depeche Mode’s 8th Top 10 “Going Backwards” continues its rise moving 6–5 with 19 combined streams & off-line plays, +5%.
Another Spanish language song “Bailame” by Venezuelan singer Nacho, with Puerto Rican artists Yandel and Bad Bunny, debuts at #6 with 19 combined streams & off-line plays.
British DJ Bonobo earns his 2nd Top 10 after “No Reason” reached #5 this June, as tribal EDM single “Bambro Koyo Ganda” featuring Moroccan singer Innova Gnawa soars 39–7 with 17 combined Amazon Prime streams & off-line iTunes plays, +143%.
Rüfüs Du Sol’s 3rd Top 10 “Like An Animal” falls 2–8 with 17 combined streams & off-line plays, –53%.
2017 rework of the 1988 Club hit “Good Life” by Detroit’s techno band Inner City debuts at #9 with 17 combined streams & off-line plays.
Katy Perry’s “Swish Swish” featuring Nicki Minaj logs its 4th consecutive month in my Top 10 – longest such stay for Perry – as it slips 7–10 with 15 combined streams & off-line plays, –17%

ODESZA’s 2nd #1 “A Moment Apart” logs a 2nd month atop my monthly Most Streamed Albums as it posts 89 combined Amazon streams & off-line iTunes plays accumulated last month, –56% compared to the month before last.
Hurts’ “Desire” debuts at #2 with 57 off-line plays, and becomes the English synthpop duo’s 4th Top 10 album, following “Surrender” which reached #4 in January 2016.
