I’m also trying to mess with the idea of a character whose ultimate is a sonic boom that damages surrounding enemies and knocks them all very far apart, which also has the bonus of quickly moving them to a location. The location can be designated on the ground or in the air, and the character will travel to that point in a straight line at high speed, unless their flight path is disrupted, or they cancel their ultimate (resetting it to 50%)
Shutting down this character’s ult, if you can see them coming quick enough, could range from shooting them to death, or cancelling them out with a tank character’s moves (Dva or Reinhardt could charge them, Roadhog can hook them, and Winston’s ultimate could negate theirs)
The damage from their Ult isn’t necessarily supposed to be a killing blow, but the concept behind it is that if the character existed in game, they’d be able to disperse enemies from an objective and have potential to kill them environmentally, allowing their teammates to push.
Code name that comes to mind is M4ch (pronounced “Mach-4″ and intentionally cheesy for Overwatch) And they’re named Mach-4, not because that’s the speed they can reach they can only go around Mach 1 or 2- it’s because the “4″ looks like the silhouette of their jet wings when they’re in ground mode. Their primary purpose is aerial support and reconnaissance. Probably hugely inspired by Tracer and Pharah’s exploits.
By extension, I’m probably gonna name them Mackenzie Finch or something, because it’s a gender neutral name, and IDK what gender I want them to be yet, haha :p (also their real name resembles their code name and I’M A HUGE NERD FOR NAME PUNS)
I can already imagine that they used to be a hang-glider as a hobby, and their glider eventually became a supersonic jetpack- the character themselves are probably armored in a manner that protects them as they use their ultimate ability and streamlines them to be aerodynamic. I’m sure that the glider comes with small, submachine guns under each wing- the catch would be that ground mode works worse than the character flying in the air and shooting. Despite them being a better shot in the air, they’d also be more vulnerable.
Ultimate: Sonic Boom
Primary Fire: Ground Submachine Gun & Aerial Submachine Guns (x2)
LShift: Fly (indefinite), and Land
E: Care Package (has the longest cooldown time) automatically generates a health pack, just like the ones on the map, that randomly appears on the map for allies to use. (The distinction is that it has a little blue parachute on it and it’s floats)
