Well, wasn’t this just unfortunate. Robby hadn’t made a habit of breaking down in front of people. Not that he hadn’t had many close calls; he has, but he’s always gotten through it in the nick of time.

As Caleb questions him, he realizes he’s hearing someone he can’t see. Robby’s well versed in his PTSD, knows logically that he’s not there, but that doesn’t stop his mind from curating images from the past. His body can’t tell that he’s not reliving those moments.
Robby squeezed his eyes shut, shaking his head. “The air is thick.” He recalls the layers of protection he’d had over his body, muffling his mouth. “It’s loud.” All the machines screaming that there wasn’t enough help- that there was too much to do, and not enough time.
